This is the one to get if you're supercharged. Fully assembled, shortblock with 03-04 Cobra internals. $4500

If you're staying NA this is the way to go.
They both work with our front timing chain covers, you just have to get an 8 bolt flexplate.

The aluminum one is closer to $4000
Plus if you take that 5.0 BOSS cast iron block and put a stroker kit in it you will have 5.3L displacement... good chance this is where I'm heading on my rebuild.

Somewhere around 80 lb.
Its a dead horse, but the shipping weight of an iron block is 167 and the shipping weight of an aluminum is 134, according to ford.

From the first link in this thread:
"Knock sensor mounting bosses eliminated for use with supercharger applications"
Do the cars running S/C now not use the knock sensors?

Yes.
With Trilogy (or any other roots or twin screw setup) they are relocated.

Thanks, good to know!
Somewhere around 80 lb.
It's not just the weight of the block. The crank, rods, pistons, and flexplate add weight to the formula. I just weighted my car a couple of weeks ago and found myself at 4500 pounds with the driver. That' up about 200 pounds plus I gained about 20 pounds since last year.

Wonder what the enhancements at Ford might be worth?
