Why would you want daytime running lights? I think that's one of the dumbest ideas ever invented.

The kit allow's your low beam's to opperate at 75% output when car is running, with no other lights on,and if you use you're autolamp you won't have to "remember" to turn you're light's on when it's getting dark,or raining, snowing, etc. and it's been prov'en to be safer.
Don't worry I don't think it will slow you down much...Think what you want,Ithink it's agood idea.

Uhh, if you turn your little headlight switch allllll the way to the left, it's an autolamp, and automatically comes on when it gets dusk out, and it shuts off 10 or 15 seconds after the car is off. Personally I see no need to have your lights on during snow/rain. And even so, just turn them on yourself, it's not that hard.

I don't have DRLs and would not personally add them to a car that does not have them. However, having your lights on during fog, snow, and rain allows others to see you which is for your safety. Also, if you come to New Jersey and it's raining, turning on your headlights is a law. That in itself is a reason to have your lights on.

I've using autolamp on car's before you were born!,I use it all the time on my MM & GM.And I would'nt go out on the road w/out my headlight "on" with any of my motorcycles.Hope no one pull's out in front of you in the rain or snow because they "did'nt see you".
It's just a safety issue,you just don't understand.

Thank you! Daytime running lights are for motorcycles - do not take their only defense. It cost me $233.00 to delete the DRL's on my 2006 Taurus, I had to replace the entire BCM. As a biker, I loathe DRL's on cars. Go to www.lightsout.org (http://www.lightsout.org) for some interesting facts about them.

Guess not, I agree with Badmerc though, use them on bikes ONLY. And too, you say DRL's are sooo safe, what about the moronic people who forget to turn the regular lights on at night time, so they have NO rear lights on, but just the stupid little tiny lights on in the front? Is that for safety too?:shake:

I do'nt think low beam's at 75% output is going be too bright in anybody's eye's, at least mine anyway,I could think of better way's to spend $233,Thank you,but I'll spend $80 to put them in mine.
Wow..... what did start here.....

That's their problem,I see it all the time too,DRL car's should all have a autolamp system. That should help prevent that from happening
All I asked was,"has anybody installed it" in their MM.

One difference between the 2003 300A/300B and 300eh models is that every car in Canada must have DRLs installed. Before a car is imported from outside Canada, it must be fitted with them. Every 300eh has them.
So, no I haven't installed them, but they are factory installed on mine. It's been the law here for 20 years. I have a buddy that imports cars, and he wires in a $60 module on every car he imports. Takes less than 1/2 hour.
So, I have a question - at the risk of starting a flame war - if DRLs are good for the safety of motorcycles, why aren't they good for the safety of cars?

If you have enough time, after you pull your head out of your fourth point of contact, please read the results of these various and numerous studies. I think you may find some answers to the questions you so elequently posed. http://www.ibiblio.org/rdu/DRLs/studies.htm

Opinions should be, but most often are not, based in fact. Most are based on conjecture. Once facts are weighed, one can form opinions and then present them in a civil manner. Using terms like "dumbest idea ever" may lead to old farts like me trying to enlighten young bucks like you.:P

OK well on my MM 2003a leaving the autolamp on (which is how my car is all the time), if it starts to rain and you turn on the wipers the lights come on. But hey it is Your ride do what you want. Oh by the way its the law here in Texas also but still see lots of folks who choose to ignore it. Lights on when it is raining. What is that snow stuff anyway?

I did not install them, but they were the first major mod I did
to the car after the pinstripes.
The dealer installed the Ford kit for me. You may be able to do a search here and find my post with a part number... but it'd be from like October 2002..... great story about the parking ticket I got that day somewhere too.....
I LOVE my DRL's.... especially when I'm driving in Florida or when it's so hot the heat rising off the asphalt blocks clear vision.

Actually, now that I re-read all the posts, I do actually have a question. If you have the lights in the autolamp position, and if it starts to rain out, does anyone's light's come on? Or is it just me?

Well I like them and have put them in both my GMs I've had, also into my fathers '06 GM and sisters '05 Escape.
I have in my '98 GM the FORD dealer installed kit which I installed myself and really isn't hard to do. I realized afterward that I could have used the plug in module as my car did have the plug (comes from FORD with jumper in plug) Either way they both work the same, but plugging in the module would have required no wiring.
I'm not sure if the Marauders have the plug also.
With my father and sisters cars I was able to access the D.R.L. thru the processor and enable them. No parts of any kind just FORD Diagnostic computer plugged in and hit the appropriate entries.
I have the EVTM's for the Marauders, I check in later and let you know if you can use the plug in or wiring type. I don't think you can enable them thru the processor.

It's a Ford kit,I checked the avalibility last week at my local Ford dealer and I planned on ordering it this week.I'll post the # when I do,I'm hoping it's plug-n-go,but if not,it can't be to hard to install.I'm sure the part's guy said it came with "distruction's".
As for light's coming on,w/autolamp on,wiper's turned on,and when it's not even getting dark yet, I think that's just a feature of new'er Panther,s with autolamp.

Before orderding check to see if you have this connector (attachment 2)at the radiator support usually on passenger side. If you do you might get lucky and only need the OEM plug in. Look for the connector to see if you have it and it has a jumper plug in the connector end.

My autolamps come when I am under an overpass.
On mine it depends on how overcast it is and how long the overpass is. I know there is an adjustment I can make to the photo-eye, but I've been too lazy.:sleepy:
On pops '06 they come on much faster and turn off much faster. :) It's almost instant on the '06.

That sucks, but at least you'll get lucky when the wife gets home. :D As long as she did not read your post first ;).
Yes I did wire one in, before I found that I could've just plugged in a module. The install is almost too easy. It's all done from under the drivers side dash. If I remember right there was a phone number with module and they faxed me wire color and locations for my car. I don't know if it mattered that I was working in a FORD dealer at that time.

Yeah, hard wired by the selling dealer.

I installed "DRL's" in my 92 Grand Marquis when I had it. Install time was 2 seconds and the materials were a piece of black tape over the sensor hole on the dash. It cut down the idiots pulling out in front of me tremendously.
