Pay me after i pay 1st?

Went to the dealer today to setup a date to have my remote mirror switch replaced under EXTENED warranty and they told me it would be $167.00 that i would have to pay by credit card (only) then the warranty company would send me a check covering this price . This is the 1st time i have used an EXTENDED warranty since 1996 and back then i never had to pay anything before so am i being scamed or this is how it is done nowadays?

Kind of like the Doctor. Pay for your visit and you'll be reimbursed. It may be that since warranty com panies are slow to pay, they want their $'s sooner. I understand that.

I would never pay upfront for something owed to me. Unless it's a deductable.

More than likely it's an aftermarket company, which doesn't have an account with the dealer. There are so many of these companies and few pay quickly. In that case your dealer would be justified in charging you first, and then you would get the amount of covered charges minus deductable if any back to you. At least the dealer made the call ( I assume) for you. Just make sure you get the approved amount ($) and approval claim number.

My fear would be that you’ve got a less than stellar aftermarket warranty company.

1) if it’s Ford’s warranty no reputable dealer would ever make you pay up front.

2) Any reputable aftermarket warranty company will pay the dealer directly with a corporate credit card
when the claim is called in and approved.

If you having a problem then either the dealer is screwing you around or you’ve got
a very bad warranty company.

I found what the problem was.(wait till you hear this) The warranty company has no problem paying for the parts and labor (as should)
Its Ramsey the dealer , they won't accecpt a check from the warranty company so thats why i have to pay by credit card and they will in turn give me the check or the warranty company will mail it to me..So thats the :bs:

would your dealer accept a cheque from you?I bet your dealer has a better raport with you the your warranty company?

They used to accept checks from me before but apparently they do not accept checks from anyone any more is what they told me over the phone w/o a reason.

I had to make calls to the warranty company after we (dealer) didn't get check after 30 days.......60 days.....and sometimes longer. It was not unusuall for companies to go out of business and then we were screwed. So if they only paid by check we did it the same way. It sucks for the customer, and makes the dealer look bad to no fault of thier own. The best aftermarket warranty company I worked with was G.E. Capitol no BS and paid quick with no hassels.

I did not mean anything with the trust factor for the US.
I figured that with the big population,the cheque would need to be checked out before being accepted
