Help a slow noob

Hey guys,

What EXACTLY defines a stage 1 car? I have been on supra forms, firebird forms, etc, etc.

I have heard BPU, Stage 1, Phase 1, etc etc.

So what do we consider to be stage 1? I have seen some sigs with Reinhart Stage 1 etc...

Each "stage" differs according the person who does the modifying, and also the vehicle.

There is some common ground, that is most people consider "stage 1" a re-tune (reprogramming of the ECU), but some companies call that "stage 0," and have some small hardware items included for "stage 1."

Vendors use "stages" as marketing packages - it's a way of selling modifications in some logical order. Naturally, some vendors will differ.

My Marauder has only been re-flashed and has 4.10 gears instead of the stock 3.55s. I don't think that corresponds to anyone's "stage 1," but I could say it's my "stage 1." Although no one would know what I am talking about, because I am not a well known Marauder modifier.

Check Dennis' web site, as someone who is at "Rhinehart stage 1" or Im sure someone who knows will tell you what's included.

Some advocate simply listing modifications, but, among those that agree on a definition, it's a quick way of saying it all with one simple phrase.

Buick produced Stage 1 - 2 - 3 cars in the 60-70's.
They were Big Block cars packing gob's of torque.
If you have never gotten to drive one ( or more as I have) you have NOT LIVED!

Are you referring to the "stage one kit" in my sig?
4:10's, chip, 180* stat and Denso Irridium plugs as purchased from DR.
All of which are still sitting in my living room.
Someday........ someday. :banghead:
