We still have some tuning to do. The torque convertor is unlocking on the big end costing me some MPH. I will be at the shop for tuning Tuesday to work out the bugs. If we get everything resolved I hope to return to the track in another couple of weeks. I was racing a EVO (car 309). He thought the turbo was going to walk me down. So sorry, get a bigger turbo the next time.

It was so good seeing you kick ass at the track today, especially when you annihilated that mustang. You shocked alot of people with that one :D and you made it look oh so easy. Today you were First On Race Day. Congrats bro.

Smokin' run, congrats!

I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Tell us more on the tranny issues. Any hardware reworks or just programming? That's Darrin's tranny work, right? Has he been able to help with any of your tranny tuning? I'm fixin' to send my Lentech to him for some rework.

My tuner is working with Darrin on the transmission problems. It's all in tuning and I feel that we can work these issues out. I will keep you posted.

Hey mark i think you forgot to tell everyone that you were running a street tune and pump gas instead of racing fuel . Thats one badass merc.

Hey mark i think you forgot to tell everyone that you were running a street tune and pump gas instead of racing fuel . Thats one badass merc.

You are right. The tune I was running that day was for pump gas (17 degrees of timing). They only had leaded race gas so I didn't run my hottest tune with 19 degrees of timing). That would have given me another 1 to 2 tenths reduction. If the tuner can get this convertor to lock correctly I think I could find a few more miles per hour on the big end. My goal is to hit 11.5 in cold air and 12.3 in the summer heat. My next stop is Cecil County April 12.

If you run 100, you can safely add 4 degrees of timing.
110, 7-9 degrees of timing.

Curious, did you relocate the IAT?

Not yet. Chris didn't think about it till we had everything bolted up. We were also going to re-wire the KB Boost pump. More work to do I guess.

Congratulations Mark from Italy:beer:. Great news for me over here. The cars I have seen here couldn't make 60 mph in 11.7et:eek:. With a ported Eaton and that much boost/timing, and the IAT sensor not relocated, I wouldnt beat on the car and heat soak the intercooler.
It could be disastrous.

Good luck Mark

My experience, your IAT2 temps are DIRECTLY effected by your IAT1 temps, the cooler the intake charge at the filter aka IAT1, that is how much cooler your IAT2's will be. Yesterday my IAT1 was 40-50 degrees with no additional cooling mods other then then stock Trilogy setup. In the next 30 days I will be adding a Snow system in the trunk.

I don't believe in flogging a car with in excess of 120-130 degree IAT2 temps at the track, if you cool your vehicle properly, i.e radiator fan, ic pump on, icebox, box fan or whatever you choice of weapon is, this is the best way to get consistent times from your car. If anyone noticed I was checking the blower temp all day and only made two runs with a two hour rest.

Most programs that are setup from tuners are "safe" and begin to yank timing at 120 degrees IAT2's, and at 150 it will yank alot of timing. The chip could be commanding a certain # but it may or may not give it the timing if the IAT2's are exceeding the value that is in the program. This is basically a form of knock control.

Chris V is aware of the IAT2 locate and he will be putting it in the intercooler.

So, you never want to bracket race your car then? Because most of the time you don't have the luxury of saying, "Wait, my car is not cooled down yet...".

:D

I am not saying that at all John. I was taking about a test-n-tune at Capital raceway. I am still working out some issues so I was being careful. I just finished the tuning for my car today. This is the second time in 30 that we had to make adjustments to the SCT tune. I think we got it right this time. I have hot lapped a count less amount of times, but this year I will be adding larger heat exchanger (2 core) or trunk mounted Ice Box. Chris V has several good suggestions, but we still don't have everything nailed down yet.

Congratulations!:banana2:

Still running M/T ET Streets but going to a widen 16' wheel soon

No plans of running a roll bar. Most of the racing season will be in very warn temps so I will be in the low 12's most of the year.

You should be good to 11.49 at most tracks (per NHRA/IHRA rules) without a roll bar. Some tracks have their own rules which may be more strict or out-of-date based on the old NHRA rules of 11.99.
