Took the MM in today for it's 30K service. Typical oil/filter/tire rotation, plus air filter/tranny service. Seems kinda stupid that they charge an additional $30 for the gasket which is needed for the transmission service anyway. All told, the total was $270 out the door, labor/parts/fluids/etc. The back tires are worn smooth in the center, fronts worn on the insides. Will be replacing the tires as soon as I can get them done. Will be installing 235.50's all around. Guess I'll call Dennis and see how much it'll cost me to have the chip redone to take care of the tire differences. Tire Rack here we come.....$86.00 plus shipping for the BFG's.

don't already know this, I recently bought a pair of the "G-Force" 245/55 tires for the back from tirerack.com for that same price($85 per tire). So you don't have to go w/the 235's all around unless you want to.

Marauder03 - The price doesn't sound too bad. IMHO you got your money's worth.:)

I should have 30,000 miles around 2018. :P The tires will probably cost more then.

difference is 5% actual slower speed than the speedo shows without any calibrations if you do the 235/50 on the rear. i plan on doing the same and already purchased the tires. just waiting for the superchips tuner to have that adjustment.

Did you get the old trans gasket back?
That gasket is a reusable type.
I've still got a trans gasket I never used from my truck.

Is your front wheel alignment set to Marauder specs? If so, are you changing the front wheel alignment to kick it out a degree or two? Right now, I'm discussing this issue with my service rep. The insides of my tires are worn at 21,000. The dealer seems to think that a wheel alignment every 10,000 is the solution, but if the same angled specs are used each time (and in reality, there is no reason a wheel alignment should be necessary that often), that would not correct that type of tire wear.

Instead of 235/50 all around, why not go with 245/55 all around. And, if you have the full size spare, you'd want to change out the spare for one of the old rear tires so the spare is the right size. But then you have a like-new 235/50 tire left over. What to do with that?

That seems righton to me. I had to do the same thin for 93 GM sport. Cost me 3 sets of tires but finally foud a shop willing to experiment and deviate from published specs. I believe it took an extra 2 degrees out on camber. No problems or alignments since (30K miles).

M03, no real need to change chip/program if you use 235 front and rear. I have same tire diameter front rear and the only issue is the Trac Cont light comes on at 40mph, simply turn off TC switch. ABS is fine. Someone suggested a degree or 2!!! for camber reduction. NO!!! Too much. Camber is supposed to be neg 0.8 degrees. Have shop set at neg 0.2. Remember, if you use a wider tire on front, reducing camber may instigate rub on fender lip.

Won't have a problem with the TC, siince I don't have it anyway. I would have thought the sppeo would be faster with the smaller dia. tires on the rear. Time will tell......tires should be at the shop Thursday. Called my local NTB dealer and he'll match the price. My servicing dealer wanted $750 for 4 tires and alignment. They wouldn't budge on the price of the tires even when I showed them the TireRack quote. Would have like to have given them my tire bsuiness, but the price difference is money I can spend elsewhere.

I assume you are correct. I should have checked the specs. Probably .2 not 2.
I can't say I remember it being .6 but it has been 4+ years.
Anyway don't lose any unnecessary tires, kick out the Camber if you are having trouble!

austin-tatious, the 245/55 is 4 lbs. heavier each than the 235/50 - reason 1. MMs are already geared too tall, the 235/50 would essentially change the proportion 5% (3.55 x 1.05 = 3.73) - comparable to getting a 3.73 rear end ratio if you kept the 245/55 tires - reason 2. 300A cars already have the 235/50 full size spare - reason 3. these were my reasons for buying the 235/50 for the rear.
