Wes is definately the man. I wanted to do make some sort of an ambient lighting kit for the MM, but didn't really know how to go about it, so I was just going to settle for the Marauder Concepts interior light kit. I was then talking it over with Wes, and he told me about a Ford OEM kit. I was quite excited and he ordered it right up for me, had it extremely fast like usual with him anyway. Did the install today, took me about 1 1/2-2 hours to complete. Wasn't really hard at all. I'm VERY happy with the outcome, and I apologize about the pictures, I need a new camera but I can tell you it's excellent. It's not extremely bright so it doesn't affect the eyes when driving, it's just right. I'm really impressed on how well the cupholders came out. Oh and the credit for the button was all Wes' and it looks badass like it was a stock option. Enough of my babbing, here are some pics, the rest are in my gallery.

The kit will install in a CV. Overall the kit was easy, mounting the tubes was the hardest part to be honest with you. I'm doing a write up on it for Wes since no instructions come with the kit. Wes will be carrying these so don't delay to call him.

That is nice. I may have to do something along those lines. What does the button do?? On/off switch I'm guessing?? We have red overhead lights in our squad cars, I like to sit with the red light on... makes me feel like I'm being sneaky and all covert like, even though I'm in a big black and white car with lights and reflective writing on the side.

Thanks Sean, we gotta put this in your car . The button simply toggles to the other different colors. I decided to splice it into my stereo wire so if I'm just hanging out in a parking lot, I can have the system thumping with the lights on without having my headlights on. If you leave say color blue on, and turn the car off, the kit will stay on that color when you turn the car on again. Simply turn it off before you exit if you do not wish to re-enter with it on.

Why do you always have to try and point out everyone elses flaws on here Zack? Aren't we supposed to be a community of car owners, trying to help each other and spread new ideas amongst the forum/each other? You could have just said ,"looks great!", but you decided to act like you were smarter and better than the rest of us because Jarod bought a kit from Wes, that you thought was too expensive. Jarod might have thought it was a fair price, and im sure Wes does.
If you have nothing nice to say, shut up.

First of all, he wasn't faulting anyone. He is acting as a community member and spreading ideas. He is smarter (when it comes to cars) than alot of us. He did not say that the kit was too expensive, exactly. He was just suggesting an alternative for those on a tight budget with a little creativity. There would be ALOT more work involved in doing it yourself, and probably several failed attempts. Its like if someone were to post saying they just bought a Cold air intake for $300.00, and Zach would say "looks nice, but you could do it for $25.00 and a few trips to home depot"
Breadfan

Kit's are great and that price for a ready to go kit isn't that bad but for someone so inclined you can get very creative with the peice parts and a soldering iron...I don't see anything wrong with that.
The kit will be easy to install, go in without any fuss, and require a few connectors to hook up.
DIY you'll get a spool of wire, a box of unwired LED's that run 3v and a 12v source. You'll need to do some circuit design, plan, make wires the right length, put in the right fuse, splice in connectors, etc. etc. etc.

Breadfan, Rich, I was not making it seem like their kit is crap, I simply wanted more colors besides Green, and when Wes told me this was available, I jumped on it. I have nothing against Marauder Concepts or their products, I think both of their lighting kits rock.

Same goes for you.
In addition if you have nothing to contribute (via FLAGS or knowledge), YOU shut up!!!!
So what. He stated the truth. I could build it, too. So?
So Zack, Ryan, Jarod, Wes and myself - All contributors. Breadfan has BEEN a contributor and has offered more knowledge to this site about MM's than you'll ever know! For that matter, so has Zack!
You could have stated your case as diplomatically as Breadfan did.
I'm glad people are joining the sight. However, just cuz you bought a Marauder doesn't mean we owe you anything. That includes TACT!
Brush it off your shoulder and keep steppin'. Learn to get to know people instead of jump. Perhaps someday you'll be lucky enough to call Zack a friend.

Same here didn't wanna cause a problem just wanted to state what I saw on the MC kit too. :)
Do you have pics of the kit from Wes? I'm curious to see it, yes DIY is fun sometimes but a kit like this could be pretty intricate and an out of box kit is by no means a bad thing!!
How does it do color change, does it have seperate LED's an RGB LED?
BTW I like the effect!

Those tubes in the 2nd picture slide into the round black things in picture 1, and the light magnifies and reflects through those. In picture 3, those little white things, are the ones that are for the cupholders. It's one LED, so I'm assuming the RGB one you mentioned. It doesn't change automatically, you have to press the switch to get whatever color you desire.
Breadfan
04-03-2008, 12:52 PM
Cool. BTW with RGB in theory you can get several colors out of it if you can very intensity to R G and B seperately.
Thanks to all that have my back
