I have a similar setup (Stainless Works headers, H-pipe, and Borla ProXS mufflers). Sound clip here (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/misc.php?do=downloadfile&i=11638).

Watch the video through to the end. You will never see a "fart can" that sounds like that.

You WILL be able to flow more exhaust through with no stock mufflers in the way on the stock exhaust system. If all you seek is cool sound, mufflerless is good. If you seek max performance, then you can spend the money on headers and larger diameter exhaust system, that's good too! It's up to you what you wish to do and limited only by depth of your wallet.

I ran mufflerless for a good deal of time, it was too loud for me at times so I eventually had 14 inch Magnflows installed. Now it's just right for me. Maybe. Well, it was right at that time. :) Keep in mind my Marauder is a daily driver and not a "play" car like is is for some of my friends. So far I have been the only one out of about half a dozen in our area that went back to some mufflering.

well it has to be legal and I did have a rusted out exhaust on my Mustang once, it was so loud I set alarms off. Can't be that loud.

That sure is quiet compared to my 86 Cobra.

I drove through the university parkade and set off 8 or 9 alarms.

Keep in mind that the exhaust still has to flow through two catalytic converters in the stock system...I understand from what I have read here that it quiets things down some.
