You might have malware already in your computer.

You can download free software that can clean up your computer.

http://filehippo.com/software/antispyware/

I run Ad-Aware, AVG and Spybot: Search & Destory.

Good advice! I also use Windows Defender along with the others because it's free.

Spybot is my choice along with AVG.

Have not had an issue since running the above software.

Keep in mind, running several different types of software that are designed to do the same thing, can cause issues as they could 'fight' with one-another and require more CPU utilization when running.

True. I use Windows Defender for live 24/7 protection and use the others on a regular basis to scan the hard drive to clean up anything that WD missed.

Yep Spy Sweeper by Web Root was one of the best products I have used. Old computer had a bunch of nasty spyware and malware in it, none of the free stuff could get rid of it. Went to Best Buy picked it up for like $30 and few hrs later computer was back to normal. I let it run out cause I wanted to get the new version that includes their Anti-Virus software which I'll be picking up sometime soon.

Same here, good FREE software!!
Cleaning an already infected computer can be harder.
try the free stuff first.Hidden software can regenerate
the original infection.

Here is a wacky idea.

Here at work we have about 3500ish computer users. We fought for a couple years with upper mgmt to get them to allow us to use web filtering (blocking known bad sites) technology. The desktop computer techs have told me how much rosier life is since we instituted the filtering/blocking of known bad sites.

If you have a router made in the last few years at home, it probably already has the funtionality built into it. I think it costs a small fee to join up with the service that keeps you updated. Otherwise you could just block all sites except those that you whitelist (manually type in on your list of sites that you need to go to).

Also, I have noticed on a new router I purchased a couple weeks ago, you can limit the web access by time of the day. If you leave the computer on and internet connected while you sleep it might be a good idea to limit it's internet connectivity like that. I also remember seeing somewhere a "big red button" that is a manual switdh for turning internet on and off easily.

If I had children, they would only be going to Daddy-Certified white-listed websites during certain hours of the day. :)

Just some wacky thoughts...it's Friday...I get a little wierd on Fridays.
