View Full Version : TCE stainless steel brake lines
I got my TCE stainless steel brake lines and ceramic pads installed yesterday thanks to NATE HAWK. This is a very simple mod for only $150 bucks. we went out for a test drive last night :burn: :drive: and all i can say is WOW what a difference. Braking is so much more responsive now. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to bring their 4400lb. beast to a stop with less effort. Pics are in my photo gallery, sorry i dont know how to post them in threads :alone:

I need that as well. I had my good buddy and repair shop owner drive my car for a couple of days last week after he fixed a bad coil.(water leaked in under the cop cover) he said great car! But the brakes feel a little weak..
Do have the part numbers, price, where did you get the parts?
On the forums page go to TCE PERFORMANCE or you can call (480)- 967-7901 and ask for todd. I posted the price it was $150.
I think DENNIS REINHART sells them also but i think he carrys a different brand.

Reinhart carries KVR "Goodridge" SS brake lines. It def. is a must "safety" mod to do.

I talked with Doom and called Todd at TCE.
Doom is thus far very pleased with this mod and that was the deciding factor in me moving in this direction.
Currently, Todd is out of brackets and to make it worthwhile, he needs a few more members interested in purchasing these lines to be cost effective in having the brackets made.
I have been riding the fence on this, and am ready to install these lines on the 'Big Red Brick'.
Who's with me?
Mike.
I put stainless lines on the GM and it fixed the not safe at any speed problem. Great safety addition guys!

Someone has stock control arms :puke:, nice set of Zack's CAs would look lovely in their place.
Let me clarify the $150 price is for the brake lines and brackets ONLY and does not include the ceramic pads. Sorry if this caused any confusion. The pads of choice seem to be the NAPA brand part # CMX7834 (front) # CMX7835 (rear). Although you will probably only need to change just the front. I have 25K miles on my marauder and we compared the old stock to the new and they looked exactly the same  . So hopefully other people on the site that have the ss brake lines will chime in and say how much they like their setup.

Braided stainless lines are well worth the money.
Ive found that replacing the rear pads with Ceramix makes a bigger difference that changing the fronts

Hi all,
I now have 1 set of SS lines installed on Blue with 1500 miles of seat time between my wife and me -- her reaction after myspending a good bit of time in the garage installing the lines and flushing the brakes, 'not much difference'. I installed them 1 week before we left for 10 days in North Myrtle Beach and drove the car hard all the way down and back. IMHO, sorry guys, but without doing pads and just doing the ss lines, I am 'leaning' in the direction of NOT installing my other set of lines on my DTR. BTW, despite my best install efforts, I still have some binding when I turn the steering wheel all the way LEFT -- will jack up BOTH sides of car tomorrow and check to see what is amiss.
I have no doubt that SS lines are good regardless of whose product you buy and I bought TCE's and I have always wanted them -- just disappointed that the 'sole of the foot' feel is NOT much improved. This comes from someone with 2 MMs -- one now WITH and one just stock.
Now the clincher: Just my opinion, if you Road Race on a REAL track, then SS lines are a MUST have to NOT burn up your brake lines. However, if you only dive on the Interstates, locally and on the Drag Strip, REPLACE THE PADS ONLY and forget the SS lines. IMHO, not worth the $$$ and the Install Hours (yours or your mechanics).
Now before you FLAME me, I have my NOMEX Fireproof suit already on!!!!!!
Not a rant, just my experience.

I felt a difference with mine before I even changed the pads. Maybe you still got a lil air in your line. I did a gravity bleed.

I think so man. I think thats what Todd @ TCE made these lines for originally big brake kits.

SS lines will not make for improved braking, the only thing that will improve braking on your car are pads. Not rotors, not lines, not fluid; pads only. Never the less, expansion control will be improved with the ss lines having less expansion at high pressure. Common sense says the older the rubber hose, the better the improvement. Will it be a night and day thing? Probably not, but combined with some fresh pads and rotors it's as good as oem gets.
I know of no binding issues but won't say it could not be possible at full lock depending upon routing. Short of hard pulling I'd not be too terribly concerned about a hose being taunt (not pulling) so long as there is ample slack at a normal turning radius. If someone feels we need to make the next run longer please speak up. After 3+ years this is the first I've read this.
These hoses will NOT fit other calipers unless the same banjo fitting is in use on the new caliper. Wilwood and others use NPT threads in the caliper to fit AN fittings and do not use banjo bolts and crush washers.
*I'll look at what my min runs are with the water jet shop and see where I can go with this without having $100 worth of left over parts.

I don't have a firm time-line here yet guys. I'll have the hoses next week but I'm not sure of the bracket. The WJ shop is running a good 7-10 days on most things. I'm out from the 9-21 for a Ford Driving Skills for Life program so I hope if not late next week I'll wrap them up as soon as I get back. Let's hope sooner than later.

HOSE KITS:
Brackets will be completed tomorrow. They will go out for zinc plating. The hoses and related items will be in stock next week.
I am however out of the shop until late May 21st doing a Driving Skills for Life Ford program (3 events actually) and will plan to begin shipping on May 22nd.
I'm sorry for the delay but I signed on for this program months ago.
Between now and then I will compile a list of all paid orders. Paypal orders will be first, followed by phone orders either tomorrow or as I have time to return calls for cc info. You may also email cc info at your own choice. The cost is the same; $155 shipped.
PP and email are the same: toddandchris1@cox.net
I have 15 sets in the works so I'm confident we have a few spares. I'll compile the list below as payments are confirmed. Shipping will be USPS flat rate.
