That is pretty cool.

I wonder how much the oils in Australia differ from the stuff on the shelves here?

The Timken machine and the 4-ball machine are both widely used at county fairs to demonstrate the supposed superiority of many miracle-in-a-can additives. In fact, chlorine bleach performs remarkably well in the Timken test but is highly undesirable in your engine. Neither test is considered valid for testing motor oil in real-world conditions.

Thanks Bob. I was about to send for a tank car full of Royal Purple. Do you know of any testing labs, who use standardized testing procedures to make such determinations, and publish them? I always thought AMSOIL was one of the top performers, yet was mystified as to why it's products were not listed in the test.

Looks like Royal Purple is just what the aluminum bits crave. Giggety.

If you believe that test, Redline isn't particularly good either. If you believe that test.

That test was performed using lots of weirdo oils in Canada that we can't even get. So I'm not surprised Amsoil wasn't on there.

Mike Poore, AFAIK, there has not been a test like that here, done with the standards and credentials you mention. Most oil companies do this testing on their own oils and on the competition, but none will ever publish the results, for obvious reasons.
