AC Smell

33K on an '03MM and I am getting a smell from the AC while on Max. Not coming from the outside and it does this in all climates, rain/shine, standing/driving, If I had to describe the smell, I would say it is nothing from the exhaust or engine and it smells like some type of chemical solvent/cleaner or the Freon? AC blowing cold and blowing strong. Semll is not too bad yet, but at times is gets a bit intense. Thanks, Randy.

Cabin Air Filter? Maybe something nasty is in there?

Just a guess it's probably not your freon because you would not have cold air. My guess is it is your evaporater.

No cabin air filter in these cars.

When set to MAX you are closing the outside air intake door, and drawing air from the intake behind the glovebox. Do you have anything with a odor in glove box ??

There's some kind of treatment available where they drill a small hole in the evaporator housing,install a fitting and spray some junk in there that disolves the crud and mold,etc inside the case and leves a pleasant smell when you use the a/c.Due to CRS I can't remember the brand name of the treatment but lots of dealers have it and it's said to work nicely.

If its the moldy musty smell... max a/c and some Lysol!!!!!
