I have a question for you guys when you upgraded your drive shaft did you notice a slight clunking noise.???

I had my mechanic installed the dynotech driveshaft from DR. Since my mechanic installed it I have been experiencing a clunk noise and vibration when I hit the accelerator quickly over 30 mph. Almost like a slight delay or response ….? Any ideas ,…..????

I Purchased it ballanced to 6000 RPM and it came with dana spicer ujoints..
I orderd it off his site

It is driving me crazy ! :help:

Try re-installing the OEM shaft and see if it goes away?

I had a similar noise when I first installed mine.
Pull the shaft out, coat the inside splines with a red teflon grease and reinstall.
Problem solved.

+1. If not, make sure the u joints locking clips are 100% seated all the way around

My tailshaft seal and pinion seal are leaking a little. I bet it's because the driveshaft vibrates starting at about 115 mph.
I think the Dynotech is on my list of goodies. Are there more choices on where to buy? I don't see much when I google it.

used shaft from a 2000 P71 that has 3.55 gears Should be the MMC shaft, this is better than aluminum and equal to or better than the dynatech shaft. You also need the force lube mod.

This might be an old thread but this is really similar to what I'm experiencing with my dynotech driveshaft... I just ordered the parts to do the force lube mod, and am going to put in a new tail housing bushing, if I still have it I'll change the u-joints, but they don't seem to have any play.

So now I need to do a forced lube mod just to get this driveshaft?

Dear God. When will it all end?

Google Dynotech driveshaft and look at what shows up.

I think I have it narrowed down to a worn bushing in the tail housing due to poor lubrication, which really becomes an issue if you have 4.10s or lower. I have 4.30s so I definitely think I need to do this mod. The biggest problem is finding the bushing. I'm going to remove the tail housing, drill and tap the hole, but I might just drop the housing off at a transmission shop, let them swap the bushing, then I'll drill the hold through the bushing and reinstall the tail housing with a new o-ring.

Changing out the seal is a snap. Not sue why you need to send it out. And I just saw a lube kit online for $130.

This is what I found too. I never realized that that housing bolts to the end of the tranny.

I'm not worried about the seals, but I don't have a press to properly install a new bushing

You don't need it to get the shaft, but since you have lower gears you should get it. This is on my list too. I see you found a good kit.

(it will never end...) :burnout:

I want the shaft because I want to go over 115 mph without shaking my diff to death.

The kit comes with a hydraulic line that goes to the front of the tranny. Anyone know if the fitting is already on the tranny? I don't want to drill and tap holes in it, especially without a lift.

Yes the line goes to the test port on the drivers side near the front, just remove the plug.

lol You figured me out......

PS Eric, do you have a puller to get to the pinion seal?

yjmud

if it the one at the end you should be able with a large screw driver or prybar

tbone

The tail shaft one, yes. But the pinion seal at the diff is leaking too and you have to unbolt the shaft and pull off the pinion flange to get to the seal.
Let's go to the junkyard and pick up those control arms tomorrow.
