View Full Version : The real reason I can't buy a marauder

I have 4 kids, ages 3 mos, 2, 4, 6. The state of IL says all must be in a carseat or booster up to age EIGHT now. I can't fit three carseats in the back of the Marauder ( I tried, mine are too big) and that still leaves the baby in the front seat, waiting to be killed by the airbags, a definite No-No. So, the wife won't go for me buying one. IL state law also says that you can't buckle two carseats in one seatbelt (not that I would). Anyone ever heard of putting four pairs of seatbelts in the backseat of a Merc? If there was a way, maybe some matched set of four carseats that fit perfectly......Lots of other Dads in my shoes - so that's another reason for the demise of the full size car in favor of vans & SUV's. The safety nazis have mandated it, and it's unlikely that Ford will come up with a dealer installed 4th seatbelt, isn't it?

You're not alone...
I don't have to wrestle with kids, or, "car seats," but I do have to protect senior citizens who cannot and do not, care about themselves. Not much of a difference here, someday you'll understand.
I think I can help you, but we should talk. Call me tomorrow (Sunday, 8/17) at my office (312.745.5207).
I have some 411 on seat belts, and some adjustments can be made. However, if you don't own a MM now, you're not going to follow me, but let's talk anyway, k?

Tazio, I completely understand; the MM. cannot handle four babies and mom and dad all at once. I hate to admit to this but I went thru an 8 year period with a Dodge Caravan. I had no joy in driving then, the joy came from the time spent with my sons. Maybe if you kept the Windstar, got rid of everything else you might be able to do the MM. Anyway hang in there they will grow up sooner then you will believe, maybe you can catch the MM. in '07 with a factory S/C......maybe.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I would buy a big surburban before i would get a caravan. At least after the kids are big enough i can use it to haul toys out to the desert.

Well if you get a Lincoln Aviator it has the same engine and you can do the mods to it to keep up.........
This way you stay under the L&M banner
