Alright...the 4.10s are in the mail and the tune will be soon also...I have a few questions due to some of the comments people have made on some previous posts that made me a little nervous...Is there any info I need to know or tell whoever i get to install the gears that will be important to the sucssess of the installation...Someone mentioned something about friction modifier? Is this something i should buy and bring to the place were the gears will be installed? Basicly i need to be schooled up on how to make this process as smooth as possible as I can/t really afford my car breaking down......any help would be appreciated

Go to a mustang shop that does 8.8s all day. I would not go to a small dealership or repair shop that doesn't do rears too often. Any shop that does performance gear swaps will already have the right fluids and modifier.

right on.....i have a couple of options that might save me some $$$ but I guess at the end of the day I would rather just have it done right......

^^^what VEB said^^^
Contact your local Mustang club and ask who they use...it's the same rear end. Also, put your location in your profile...it'll help us assist you in the future.
As to your question about friction modifier, it's a standard additive required by limited-slip differentials to prevent clutch chatter on cornering and is available at the dealer. Some gear lubes already contain FM...I can't remember if it's Red Line or Royal Purple...and don't require it to be added separately.
The factory-fill is conventional 80W-90, but Ford now recommends synthetic 75W-140. The Motorcraft brand does require the addition of 1 bottle of FM.

Now I know that about 80% of people on this entire website have 4.10s on their car...What I wanna know is why does everyone I tell that Im putting 410's on my car look at me me like I'm high....Everyone says that my car will run like **** and get 9 miles to the gallon....My brother works with a tech guy at a major car dealership in WI and is friends with him...The guy makes a ton of money, owns a shelby gt500 and many other mustangs over the years...I asked my brother to ask him about doing the gears for me....My brother told me the guy said and I quote," Tell him he is a dumb ass. I was going to put 410s on my mustang a few years ago but I didint wanna get 9 miles to the gallon in my daily driver. I dont wanna be apart of ruining his car by turning it in into a piece of **** with bad gas milage and tranny problems"....WTF!! Now i know that this can't be true bc no one on this forum would have 410s if that was true...But y does every one I talk too, save on this website, think im making a big mistake?????

Because not many people are used to a 4400 lb car. They are thinking os a 3000 lb Fox.

Neubauer, 4.10s in a light car with 16" wheels and a 3-speed transmission WOULD be a mistake for a daily driver. OTOH, the Marauder weighs 4200 lbs, has 18" wheels and a tall tire on the back, along with an O/D transmission and a motor that likes to rev. Steve Babcock, the program manager for the Marauder project, even said the car was designed to have 3.73s or 4.10s from the factory, but was nixed by the bean-counters.
The people who are telling you you're high may be knowledgeable people in general, but they know nothing about this car.

^^^^^^ +1 ^^^^^^ to what RF said.
You're only going to pick up about 200 - 300 rpm at 70 mph with the OD on, and the car will actually run better as the motor's going to be running a bit further up in the power band at that speed.
As for mpg loss, I noticed about 1/2 mile per gallon difference on road trips. I checked mileage to/from the KY Bourbon run, and I averaged 22 mpg up and back, and that was running anywhere from 60 to 85 mph during the weekend.
Just make sure you get a tune to go along with the gears or your speedo and shift points will be way off.

Exactly, people are thinking of a 3 spd auto w/ 1:1 final drive and 4.10s getting "9 mpg" with a carburetor. That is more than a little "out of touch" to still think that way w/ OD
And I needed friction modifer w/ redline or I got chatters/groaning, plan on needing it just in case
