Question:
If you adjust your air suspension ride-height up or down, what impact does this have on the height when the vehicle is parked and engine OFF? In other words, does the rear return to a standard static height once the ignition is off, or does it 'rest' relative to the adjusted ride-height?

Good question. The car does not drop all the way down to the bump stops when it's off, so it must be shooting for a target ride height when parked. That probably means that adjusting the ride height will also affect the parked ride height.

Just speculation though.

I don't want to highjack but has anybody ever thought of putting in a air release valve to drop the rear when parked? just a thought

None.

It should have no affect when the car is parked. Unless your car has a leak, when parked nothing happens because your electrical system is off as well. The system is only activated when you start your car. As you said, if you adjust your ride height, that becomes your new standard, and the car will rise to that new height.

FORD air suspension "vents" when car is parked, why I don't know, but that is what FORD calls it.

I would guess it's to take a little pressure off the air springs.

This is not correct at all. The system has certain conditions when the car is off that it will trim height. It also does purge when you are parked. Your rear ride height will drop around 1/2-3/4" parked.

It has to, measure it. It's not a big difference but it does do it. If you listen up front under the hood a certain amount of time after shutting the car off, closing the door, locking it, you will hear the air ride system purging.

my air ride will drop 16 inches if i leave it aired up....

but it's obvious the MM system airs itself out a little, because when you start it, you can hear the compressor kick on to refill.

I've had the system come on while loading heavy items into the trunk, while the key was out of the ignition. It could be that the bleed-off is a 'timed event' controlled by some microcontroller. This way the air pump gets cycled every startup (prevents the moter from seizing up?), and the system can check itself.
