It doesnt need to be changed.
Clean it if you really want to do something.

Pull!!!!!! I think I worked a screw driver in between the plastic and rubber to free it up. They are cheap enough to make it worth changing.

Perhaps I don't understand this valve, but isn't it basically just a simple check valve? As long as you keep it clean and you can hear it rattle when you shake it why would you need to replace it?

^^^ To keep the economy going. It's how the wife is going to spend our tax rebate, buying American.

Wait, is this thing made in China, Mexico, Brazile or India? If so then don't replace it, clean it with solvent made in America.

There is a very fine calibrated spring in the PCV valve as well. Replace the valve, they are cheap enough. Did the new valve not come with the connector?

Did the new valve not come with the connector? No, it doesn't.

I used a hairdryer to soften the rubber part and a lot of elbow grease to pull it apart. It doesn't go back together much easier, either.

I replaced mine last year sometime, the rattle wasn't as noticeable as the new one so I just changed it.

That's the spirit!

Cleaning works if you can remove without damaging it.
Cheap enough to replace, either way is good.

Good Lord I love search...tried throwing my JLT pre-filter on yesterday (after a HUGE PLUMING SEAFOAM session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and COULD NOT for the life of me understand how a PCV valve could kick my a$$.

Even my dad, with over 70 years on this planet and probably 55 of them as a gearhead couldn't see what was going on.

Heat was his solution, but of course he wanted to BBQ it with a handheld propane tank (held at a distance) to warm it up and get the elbow off...'cept I just couldn't get over why I would need to yank, pull, heat and/or pry this friggin thing off...

Rant over, gonna hair-dryer the friggin thing and save me the time of going to Ford for a replacement (on second thought, I may still because my goal is only to save the elbow and take any course of action necessary to get the PCV off of it....)...

Happy Tuesday everbody...
