What you guys think is the edge of safe, in ignition timming, at idle???...
Just wondering how much I can push mine...It's set at @ 13*...From what I understand 13* is a very safe point...
All thoughts appreciated...
Also, I have a wide band with my O'2 sensor after the first cat. drivers side (cause of lack of space)...How would this affect it's readings??? I was told that my tune kept me a little rich, for saftey, But my gauge reads 14.8 at idle...Whats going on here???
My assumption is that the O'2 sensor is too far back, and needs to be before the Cat. to read acurately...Is this correct???
Thanks!

We got her running a little rich at 14.8 A/F
Just FYI, 14.8 is considered lean.

Thanks Red...I was confused which way the scale went...
Corrected my post...

Your car can probably handle 16-17 degrees safely.
As for AFR, you want 14.7 at idle and cruising.
10.8-11.5 at WOT

Thanks Zack...But does having my wide band O'2 sensor after the first cat. make it inaccurate??? Does it have to be in the exhaust manifold???
Thanks...

Can I ask why you're trying to increase the idle spark advance? Are you attempting to correct for stalling or fluctuations?

No, not at all...The car runs great!!! Just wondering if I can get a little more out of it, by increasing the timing globally, or at a particular rpm range, a little...
My assumption is that if my base timming is low, I can add timing globally...This is new to me and 'am trying to learn the relationship between base timing and timing throughout the rpm range...
Or maybe there is no relationship between the two??? Then I 'am curious if and where (rpm range) it would be safe to add a little timing...
Please share your thoughts...I enjoy learning from you guys...
Thanks...

EDIT: Second thought, What the hell 'am I thinking!!! Just got that thing in, and alrready looking for more? Jeeezeeezz, this speed bug is killing me, and my wallet, if I don't get it under control...LOL ... I'll just leave it be... Thanks everyone for your support!!! I need a drink!!!

With the Wb02 after the cat your readings will be slighlty off for roughly 2-3 seconds at WOT.. once the exhaust starts rushing thru the cat at WOT the cat have very little time to do thier job...
On another note on timing... I haven't had a chance to continue looking into the marauders timing.. but It seems that at WOT the PCM looks at two different tables... If i recall.. WOT in first is looking at MBT and after the shift to second or third it switches to Borderline spark table... This was caught while data logging with a XCAL2 and watching the PID spark Source..

Howzit Local Boy !?!? Can't answer your question, but it's nice to know someone on Oahu has an awesome taste in cars. My wife says you gotta be "no ka oi". She's from the North Shore and sends her aloha from Chicago.
