There have been several discussions on tuning recently, and it seems that this topic is not well supported on MM.net. For those of us who are tuning, I believe a forum would help facilitate the conversations, especially by separating these more advanced discussions from the repetitive questions often asked by new members. What are your thoughts?

I'm fully for this... I don't see how this can have any draw backs.... I've been a member of many forums for different cars...And this forum has alot of good info, but its not "preserved" or kept in a sticky.. its scattered all over the place...

I think that's what the "garage" forum is for.

I think that's what the "garage" forum is for.
The problem is that the garage forum gets cluttered with topics (e.g., threads on appearance modifications) that flush out advanced discussions. Tuning is complicated in comparison and often addressed by a separate forum in online car communities. LS1TECH (http://ls1tech.com/forums/) has a good breakdown that organizes technical discussions and facilitates novice, intermediate, and advanced topics.

I think it's a great idea Red. I know very little about tuning, but want to learn, and Safado is right - the info that is here is scattered and hard to find.

I like the idea, even if many don't understand what's going on.

However, there is more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to tuning. I would hope this new forum, if adopted, won't turn into a pissing contest. We have seen this happen before.

It's really hard to "tune" over the written word media or even relate what's been changed in your PCM, since in many cases only your "tuner" knows or even how it was done. Charts and graphs from dyno runs would be mandatory.

Some things may even be considered proprietary. But still, some good could come from it. Even if it's in the form of links or products for sale.

Don't get me wrong. I understand the concept and welcome it. But i think that was the reasoning behind the garage, but like a lot of them just got cluttered and in need of a spring cleaning.
