Anyone heard of Parts Perfect? They sell I'm guessing a new wiper motor p/n 71500 through Auto Zone for $79.99.

Doubt it comes with the connector pigtail so I'll just get that at the dealer.

Why would you need a new connector?

I don't know, someone suggested replacing it along with the wiper motor. If it's not needed that's even better.

I think some of them may have corroded. Mine was not replaced, but i also didn't see what it looked like.

When I had blue thunder in for wacky wipers, they replaced the motor assembly and the wiring pigtail. I think the wiring was an updated design maybe.

I don't know why the pigtail would need replacement, I haven't seen it up close yet, but if it IS corroded I don't see why some careful cleanup wouldn't fix it.

More than likely Ford says replace it in the TSB because it's cheaper for their techs to pop a new part on than to spend an hour cleaning it when doing warranty service.

BTW Rock Auto has a reman'ed Motorcraft for $79 but has a core charge: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1387829,parttype,882 4

Does the Advance one have a core charge?

As of yesterday I'm in the same boat as you.

Can you or anyone else post some pics of taking the motor out?

Can I pull it out and leave it out and drive the car (in dry weather) without any ill effects?

I'd like to examine mine closely to find precisely where the failure is and if it is repairable. Since the wipers still work (just more than they should!) it could be a relatively simple electrical repair.

If anyone has an old wiper motor that went bad due to wacky wipers and didn't have to return it for core lemme know...if it's headed for the trash I could become the trash man.

I checked Advance Auto Parts and they have Motorcraft and another brand bout remaned with a core charge. The one I saw on Auto Zone's website said nothing about a core charge and doesn't say anything about being remaned so I think it's a brand new unit.

I'll be stopping by my local Auto Zone and placing my order for one if it's a brand new unit and swing by the dealer to get the pigtail (just in case) if it's need then I will have it.

Breadfan, if you want my old one it's yours I will have no need for it.

Chris you shouldnt need the pigtail. mine had no corosion at all. but when you take it off makesure the lil white seal thingy is still in the harness and not left on the motor

Also I'd make sure the connection is tight and use dielectric grease on the connection to help further waterproof it and make it more corrosion resistant.

Thanks Chris! Let us know how it goes and if the Autozone one is a new part and how it works out. We'll see if I have time this weekend I may pull my cowl and take a look. For now fuse #17 pulled so I can drive around on these sunny days just fine. :)

Yeah I will make sure everything is clean and tight, might end up checking the pigtail tonight. Fuse 17 FTW, that's the first thing I did when mine started going crazy only bad part is now I have to manual clean the pollen off the windshield.

I just got back from ordering the part and the parts guy did confirm that Parts Perfect P/N 71500 wiper motor is brand new and not reman'ed. Should be in tomorrow at their store and I'll have to pick it up Saturday morning since I get off after they close from work. I'll be sure to document any differences between the OEM unit and the new unit.

Oh and the wiper motor has a Limited Limetime Warranty, not 1yr like the reman'ed units have.

Picked up the motor today and about to get started with the install before it rains tonight, keeping my fingers crossed this works.

Well replaced the motor, pigtail looked clean as could be. Cleaned out the trap as you can see

and now wipers will turn off but don't have delay and will stop on the windshield wherever I turn them off at. Still come on by themselves when the key is put on ACC or IGN but I can turn them on and back off at least. I guess next step it so replace the multi-function switch.
