I can't take the pain at the pump anymore, it needs to end now and unfortunaly the after life will be spent in a Ford Taurus.
When I was younger I would just fill up and go, mash the pedal to the floor and put a huge carbon footprint on mother natures a$$.
but time , day care, mortgage and the rest of lifes wonderful expenses have taken me to the end of the line.
needless to say if you are interested in a Marauder or for the more endowed members a second or third please check out my ad in the classifieds.
If I can't have her , at least I can give her a good home (god forbid she becomes a taxi)
Make me an offer and put me down quick

Don't be ashamed, I am sure there are a lot of guys driving this car feeling the crunch. 20 mpg highway used to seem okay, but not so much these days

the only saving grace is that i will go from 18mpg to around 26-28mpg and drop back from premium to regular unleaded. it should give my wallet some relief

Most Taurus cars get 20-22 mpg Vs. 17 for the MM, Caculate the savings.
What will you save per year?
Most is 5mpg, plus 20 cents per gallon for premium.
best of luck!

As appealing as a Marauder daily driver sounds - it really isn't. I drive a 2006 Taurus everyday to and from work. It is nothing special BUT it is cheap to drive. A tank of gas lasts almost three weeks (I drive 18 miles a day) and it isn't a ticket magnet. I am keeping my Marauder at any cost!

no way.....i use premium in the marauder, the replacement will be a ford Taurus. a front wheel drive v6 that takes regular and gets 28 mpg
i would never put anything less than 91 in the marauder not that most stations carry 91 usually its 93. I have heard way too many warnings to cheap out and risk severly damaging the engine.
but thanks for jumping to conclusions

The new ford taurus or "five-hundred" replacement is stickered to get 28mgp highway out of the 6cyl front wheel drive. the all wheel drive gets 24mgp highway.
RIght now i usually get about 18 mpg out of the marauder. so if my math is right
taurus = 28mpg X 10 gallons of regular @ 3.41 = $34.10 for 280 miles
marauder = 18mpg X 10 Gallons of premium @ 3.65 = $36.50 for 180 miles
taurus = 280 miles / $34.10 = .12 a mile
marauder = 180 miles / $36.50 = .20 a mile
250 miles a week
taurus = $30.00
marauder = $50.00
$20 a week savings
$80 a month
$960 a year
it adds up to a boat load of money, especially if gas prices keep rising.

Do your calculations include the cost of the car you're buying minus whatever you get out of the Marauder? How many years at $960 savings will it take to pay for the price of the Taurus?
Not knocking your decision, just not really convinced it's such a good deal.

:shake:
The shenanigans with the gas prices is going to force a lot of ppl to dump their MM's.. This will drive down prices for used MM's and Im afraid that we will soon start seeing MM's with big wheels and wings and/or rednecks with dumb**** racing stickers.
This is a sad time indeed my friends....................... .............................. .............................. ...........

I understand that there is a significant cost with the purchase of a new car. But in my mind at least i have justified it a little bit
1- gas savings
2- brand new with warrenty
3- 5 star safty rating all around 6 airbags and 2 small children in the back
4- longevity
5- my other car is a fuel sipping chevy tahoe (yeah right)
6- wife wont drive it
on some level i have my reservations about my decision

I guess if you plan to keep the Taurus for a long time then it makes sense. If, however, you plan to unload it in four to five years then the gas savings might not really hold up to the harsh light of careful scrutiny. On the other hand, the new car, by virtue of being newer, will have more trade-in value at that time.
Either way, best of luck to you.
