A local dealer has offered to sell me an 08 Shelby Gt500 for MSRP. Last year, they were marking them way up over MSRP. Anyway, he said they would be interested in taking my 03 supercharged Marauder with only 14,000 kilometers on trade. He hasn't specified what kind of difference we would be talking yet. The Shelby's are nice, but to be honest, I'm not sure I could part with my Rauder. Not to mention, that they likely wouldn't value it at a figure that would make it practical to make a trade. In the end, I'll likely stick with the Marauder, as it's more unique anyway.

That is the only car that tugs on my string.
Keep the Marauder,

Mustangs are nice but are a dime a dozen, regardless of the variation; GT500, Shelby GT, Bullitt, Roush, Saleen ect.... Ive never understood why anyone would want to spend so much more over a standard Mustang GT for a car that looks just like it, regardless of performance. That, plus the fact you have a very low mileage supercharged car that I know gets more looks on the street than any Mustang and that wouldmake me want to keep the MM. Ultimately, its what you want, not what we suggest.

Keep the Merc. The GT isn't going to be nearly as comfortable to ride in.

How will you feel driving your new mustang and seeing your ex Marauder, EVERY DAY?

That probably exemplifies my sentiments exactly. I can't envision anybody else driving my Marauder, regardless of what I were to buy to replace it. I guess that answers my question right there.

Keep your MM! This coming from a lifelong Mustang nut who is selling a 480+ HP 03 Cobra for a MM.
You'd get ***** on trade and be sorely dissapointed with the overall performance of the GT500. If you want a Shleby get the Shelby GT, then mod it to taste, at least Shelby America touched it rather than it just being a Ford production line vehicle.
I thought about building up a newer model Mustang GT that would spank a stock GT500 for less than the 500's sticker price. Do that and keep your MM.

Keep your MM. I wish I did. I bought mine new, and now I've been searching for a long time to replace it with a nice one. I only had my MM 6 months, and have missed it almost every day since I sold it. It about broke my heart when I saw it on ebay 2 years and 3 owners later. :(

Man if you get a Mustang...just think about how many people have a Mustang...I got my Marauder because its not a car you see on every street you turn. BUT the choice is yours...Just dont do anything and regret it later.

I had a 71 Torino GT 429/c-6 3.91 gears.console buckets A/C etc
clean as a pin, got terrible gas mileage.(3.91s with 14 inch wheels and a 429 4v - go figure) traded it for a Lincoln I think, been regretting it for about 20 years now, I like the Marauder much better than the Torino.

Agree - If you can't keep both, don't do it.

I don't get to drive my car that often, as I work away from home most of the time. I got home last night and took the car out for a cruise on the main strip. It never ceases to amaze me the kind of stares this car gets, especially now when they hear the whistle of the blower beside them. As nice as the Shelby's are, I don't believe they would generate the same interest.
Although I have yet to drive a Shelby and I'm sure they're quick, from the numbers I have read, I have to wonder if my marauder wouldn't give a serving of humble pie to one. Especially in light of the above factors, I just can't see spending a heap of money to get a car that might be deemed as less exclusive and possibly not as quick.

The only downside to all of this is... the ShelbyGT500 will hold its value. The MM's have not.
I traded my 03 Mustang Cobra in on my MM. The Cobras have held their value much better than the MM. Not that I regret it, but if and when I have a chance, I WOULD consider getting a lightly used 03/04 Cobra someday. Just not at the expense of getting rid of the MM.
IMHO market value considerations favor the Shelby .....
Your personal likes may differ.

The Shleby will hold some value but it is a production line vehicle, only a select few models are limted runs (KR). They're cool and once modded will fly but they're heavy.
I may try to keep my Cobra and the MM. With the right driver (not me) my lightly modded '03 would walk a GT500 for at least $15K less but it does have 27K miles. You could buy a 03/04 with a Whip or KB and spank the crap out of GT500's and save your $15K.

Offer no trade and 80% MSRP on the Mustang.
He can only say no.
You can walk away.

Not enough coin in the piggy bank to keep both, or garage space.

the performance numbers on the Shelby are about .1 second faster than a Stock GT.
its all in apperance... and well, the MM i beileve will still get more looks.
I have a Shelby GT500 in where i work, ( auto salvage yard). it was a theft so only the motors and trans are gone. yes the car is cool, but they are large and they are not really all that different from my friend 07 GT Premium.
