I was checking the price of Steeda underdrive pulleys on their site and noticed this footnote to the U/D we use.
'03 Mach 1 doesnt use alternator pulley. Crankshaft U/D pulleys in very limited surplus, order now while supplies last.
here's the link:

Anyone else hear anything about this?

That's odd. I wonder why they're scarce?
So what is a used set worth Ed?

Your question is the reason for me looking it up.
I do miss the snapping of the neck effect, which is different from the breaking of the neck and head rolling off into the back seat effect I have now.
This can be the heads up tread, because I'll be putting my U/D's up for sale this evening, but I have to give my local MM brethren a chance at them tonight at the Towers meet. But I think everyone down here has them already, but I'll see and let you know.

Do they really make that much of a difference?

Professor, while the improvement offered by U/D pulleys is definitely noticeable, it's not a huge "OMG" difference. What happens is that the motor seems to spool up quicker, or feels "looser", for lack of a better word. For the cost, they are a good value mod, especially when combined with other small mods, like the PHP intake spacer for instance...

They're good for 10-12 rwhp.

Is it true that under drive pulleys cannot be used with power adders?

It is true, you will underdrive your S/C. You can use them with nitrous and a turbo set-up

Not exactly.
I had a Romak crank pulley with my ProCharger. It is about 5/8" smaller than the stock Marauder pulley. It worked fine.

Is it true that under drive pulleys cannot be used with power adders? It's not a matter of "cannot"...it's because you won't get the full benefit of a blower if you drive it at lower speed. It would be like putting race gas in your tank, then setting the tune for 87 octane...you CAN, but why WOULD you?

Bigger blower (D1SC), smaller crank pulley worked fine, gave me 15 psi with a great big 3.90" pulley on the SC.
well that notice has been up there for as long as I've been here when I first heard about the UDs, but yeah if anything old posts show that UDs ran for 160 now they're 190.
Hopefully after this weekend I can testify to what UDs can do. As one member takes them off another puts some on, :D
And lastly what the heck at hen's teeth?

Is that 10-12 hp gain with or without the alt pulley?

The only difference in the Alt. Pulley, is that the OEM pulley is clutched, where as the U/D alt. pulley isn't, but they are the same diameter. Power gains would be the same with or without.

They were $190 a year ago, plus tax they came out to 2 bills +. Inflation is a Motha.

^^^^ +1 ^^^^ Seems to be much more responsive in mid-range, and definitely winds up faster.

I'd be interested in the results of the PHP spacer. I'm currently running U/D pulleys, a PHP CAI, and DR tune along with 4:10's, and am pondering my next mod. The spacer is one of them. Let us know if you notice a difference after installation.

in my otherwise stock 03, the intake spacer made a slight but positive and noticeable difference.

I'd say about $100 but that's the discounted MM.net member rate.

I had a tune, 4.10s and JLT CAI intake when I put in my PHP intake spacer and I noticed no SOTP difference with it. Cant say what a dyno would show, though.
