Out of Canada (http://www.thecarplace.com/ronmerc.htm)

Interesting, he claims to have thought up the big bad customised "Police car" before Car and Driver did their "Lounge Lizard"

He was a GREAT pitcher "back in the day"...

I know, I know...it's Don NOT Ron...

At least I didn't make any Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills jokes.

AHAH!!! Finally found it again! The review with the sound clip was one of the defining reviews that got me started down the home stretch to buying one this past spring. You guys have NO idea how many evenings I sat in front of the computer, researching this car, and listening to that sound clip over and over again...

it's a good review except for the comment about the milage. If I behave I can get 22+ mpg on the interstate and 18 in town. Now if I'm not careful I can get 12 too. :burnout:

RCSignals-
Thanks for both links. I hadn't come across these reviews before. Lots of fun to read (even though the mention of the Grand National got me pining again . . .)

In the second link ("Marauder Review"), Mr. Bowden complained about the Marauder's $35k big bucks price tag. Wonder what he would say about getting his hands on one (with an option or two) for $27.5k? Makes the recent MM prices sound like a real bargain!

And his trashing of the Caprice . . ."one of the ugliest cars ever produced" . . . "Mike Tyson in a tutu" . . . "fat, gross and ponderous." Whew! Remind me never to leave a copy in the Caprice 9C1. It'll break his LT1 heart.

Troopcar. when the caprice had those built in rear "fenderskirts, it was pretty ugly. Opening up the rear wheel well made it a completely different car, and i think they sold more because of it.

I heard that someone with an early car opened up the rear wheel wells himself, GM took notice and interest, and took many pictures of his car, and subsequently built them that way (seems odd, you'd think they could have figures it out themselves)
