View Full Version : Trust me, I couldn't MAKE this up!
Its Tuesday morning. I leave the house at 7am to drive to U-Haul, where im renting a truck to pick up my new 4-Post lift for the garage.
Got the truck, got the lift, unloaded the lift at the house and headed back to U-Haul. In the interem of me coming home with the lift and leaving for U-Haul, I went into the house to eat and tend to the animals....I also set my keys down....in the PILE of MM keys :D
So, Im back at U-Haul returning the truck. The paperwork gets finalized and Im off to my Blue MM parked in the lot. Pull the keys out of my pocket, but they aint workin'! I picked up the WRONG set of keys, of which did NOT have a house key on the ring :bigcry:
So now Im stuck. Do I call Becky out of work to come rescue me? Do I call my mom who has a spare key to the house? How am I getting home?
After a few minutes of scrambled thinking, I decided I have to get myself out of this mess, cause Im the one who got into it.
Its a 15 minute ride back to the house by car, so I decided to walk home.
BUT... how the heck am I getting into the house?
He he he he! I know I left the tractor in the back yard this morning
I also know I left the inside door to the house unlocked (from the garage).
Anyone figure out what im gonna do yet? :coolman:
Thats right! I pulled my overhead console out of the car and started my 1 hour journey home. Along the way, I picked up 2 marking flags the utility companies had placed in the ground. (Sorry J.U.L.I.E.)
When I finally got home, I whipped the tractor around the garage and lifted the battery cover.
Thats when I took the thin wire from the marking flags and jumped the HomeLink to the tractor battery
Voila, garage open!
...ok thats the end of the story :banana2:

My 2003 comes with a key in the trunk. My house has a lock box. As you age these things will become wisdom. If you get to old to remember any of the above...you should'nt be driving or living alone.

Question; How did you get the overhead console out if the keys did not work? Or did you leave the Blue unlocked while you were away from it for hours? Or did you use the keypad combination?

Yes indeed, although I have never used mine, didn't know the code, and had it disabled when I installed the alarm. I'm sure it works as good as keys. Oh wait, they didn't come standard with keyless ignition:o

Why don't you have a keypad on the garage door?
Why don't you have a keypad on the garage door?
Good call
In reality, all you have to do is pull the keypad off the wall and touch 2 wires together and you're in. Not real secure if you ask me!

The wireless ones are code hopping like a handheld, but require the typed code to transmit.
Nice thinkin', ace.
I just don't have the patience for crap like that. So, there's a valet key hidden deep in the car somewhere. That way, I can keypunch, dig out the key and I'm off. You may consider this for the future! :D

Great story.
I was delivering a boat and the engine died. The tide was going out and there was no wind.
The diaphram on the mechanical fuel pump tore. I cut out a peace of foul weather gear and made a replacment diaphram. It worked for several days until we got a replacement.

Would have been easier to get a 12-pack of Trojans up at CVS. ;) So how'd you get the boat fixed.

Perhaps except there are no CVS in the MS Sound.
There may have been some Trojans onboard, however the label says do not use w/ petroleum products.
Eventually we got a tow from a friend who had one engine go out. The one engine towed us fast enough to get in before the cocktail party.
I was in a boat racing to Isla Mujeres when I found a crack in the bow 200 miles out in the Gulf. I used a floor board, alm pole, kevlar line and Spanish Windlass to brace it. We dropped out and returned. The builder said the next time he went offshore he wanted the repair guys to be with him. The core sample showed 7 out of 9 layers had cracked.
To be continued...................
