Hi guys, I am replacing the out-of-spec stock trac lock carrier in my Marauder. It is measuring runout on the ring gear mounting surface that is way out of tolerance.

With GM stuff, they used different carriers for 2.xx and 3.xx gears, due to the different thicknesses of rings gears. Are fords the same way, and I need to find a trac lock carrier from 3.xx series gears, or are all ford track lock carriers the same, regardless of ratio?

The mustang shop around the corner from me has a used 28 spline Trac lock carrier, but I don't know whether it is from a 2.xx or 3.xx factory gear set, and/or if that makes any difference as to whether I can use it.

Thanks

Steve

Never mind, I called a diff service shop, Ford did not do "series" carriers like GM, the only difference between the trac locks is obviously spline count, and also cross pin diameter.

Right. No carrier breaks on any Ford rearends.
