I was driving into town headed south, on one of the local roads. Its a nice 4 lane (2south 2north)roadway but its about 4pm and there is lots of end of day traffic. I get hung up in traffic at a light, I look over and sitting in the lane next to me is a all black Nissan Altima. The light turns green and we bloth take off. Due to traffic I am in no mood to race anyone or even speed. This guy keeps rolling side by side with me, reving his motor and just floating there. I can tell this guy wants a go. Its just not going to happen. I roll my window down a bit so he can see me (tint is too dark), and brush him off. No obscene gesture, just a simple wave of the hand that says "not today."
Up ahead the south bound lanes merge from two to one. The guy in the Altima speeds up, swerves in front of me narrowly missing the front of my car, even tho he has the lane thats supposed to yeild. Once in front of me this A$$Hat slams on his brakes for no reason. I slam on my brakes, damn near rear ending the guy. Then he takes off.:mad2:I didn't even try to follow him. I took the next right and worked my way home. I was so :censor: I was about to explode.
I was so damn mad if I would have gotten my hands on that guy it would have been a bad day for him. Now why the :censor: hell would you try to get rearended just because you didn't get to run someone? If I would have had a big old beater I would have just slammed into him. Sure it would have been my fault but hey... it might have been worth it.

Take some deep breaths and let it go. It ain't worth it .... and neither is the a$$hat. I suspect that Nissan will be hanging on the back of a tow truck in a month or two. :D

Ok...you played this all wrong.

Taking an example from our fine Killjoy...your proper response once rolling the window down would have been:

"Awwww...how cute!"

I use it regularly.

You exercised the better part of valor. Hats off to you! You were the bigger man, for sure.

I don't get it either. Maybe he took offense at your "brush off" hand gesture?
This is a great example of why racing needs to stay on the track. People are just too darn unpredicable. You did good avoiding the race.

You did good Brutha...There is no substitute for good decisions (yours)...

My take is that this idiot wanted to show you how fast his POS is from a dead stop or slow roll...Hoping, you would give chase...and the race is ON...

Props for making the right choice...

I read your post again, sorry, I misunderstood the hand gesture part.

Maybe he wanted to egg you on so to speak. Doing it in a manner that puts you behind him, unable to pass. He is possibly on some other forum boasting how he dusted of a Marauder today.

In my area, we have a lot of intersections with "right turn only" lanes and morons are always going straight ahead in these lanes, then when they get to the "right lane ends- merge left" sign, they force their way into the left lane, cutting other people off. Arrogant asshats like that REALLY burn me...

You should have told him to come back when he has a real car..

I usually get that all the time, except they proceed to ride my bumper hardcore. I do 1 or 2 things, brake check! Or click off that little O/D button, and drop the hammer and wave bye bye.

I really believe , from what you described ^^^^^^^ here^^^^^^^^^ that he totally mis-understood what you meant and decided to tell you what he thought of it by his stupid actions----------thats what gets us in trouble on the road--misunderstandings..........he lucked out this time---next time his stupid actions may not be so lucky.........

i know how you feel, brother. in the last 2 months, ive really been trying to rehabilitate my lead foot disease (ever since i got the Marauder) and ive been running into things like this. its freakin' hard as hell to not do anything, but you cant be proving to every wannabe what your car can do. the only thing i can think of, is next time, dont roll your window down to acknowledge him. i think you hurt his ego and that would have been the case for any courteous hand gesture. now if your windows had already been down, then thats fine. but the fact that you had to roll them down and blow him off, probably got under his skin. like someone said earlier, youll probably be seeing his car on a wrecker real soon.

good job restraining yourself.

WOW! I can't believe you didn't show your badge when you rolled down the window and let him know who he was about to deal with. Nice level head though! I am sure you will see him again when you are in your patrol car:)

I didn't have the badge when I blew him off. I was just coming back from Blockbuster and I looked like a bumm. The reason I didn't light him up was the amount of traffic. It was also broad daylight. My car is also parked behind the Police department on a regualr basis when I go to work. So people are walking up to me that I don't even know and asking me why it sits behind the PD.

I have some serious road rage. If I would have actually rear ended him it would ahve been very bad. We would need an ambulance, and not for whiplash.

I'll see him again.

Just make sure that you got the right guy; there are a lot of all black Nissan Altima's around.

Wow, yeah I'd be pretty upset by that too.

Oddly enough I get left alone more in my Marauder than in my other car.

Of course my other car is a 1990 Mustang...it's mainly stock, has faded paint, and 206,000 miles. But for some reason everyone thinks it's on at a light.

I find the biggest offenders are the 350Zs and Infinity G35s, plus other various supposedly "fast" imports like Lexi, etc.

I don't know why but it's these cars always trying to show me something. I guess they're ecstatic their brand new luxo-import wannabe speed mobile may (emphasis on may) be able to outrun a 17 year old 206,000 mile all original car with original clutch too, from the era of parachute pants...
