Hello board, I have been an owner of this black beast since Oct 2002, bought the first of 2 that our local dealer had. Door label says built 06/02. Made the deal late one evening, went to pick it up the next day, dealer tried to give me the 1 with 500 miles already on it. Got the one with 1 mile. Bought it without a test drive. Gave them my neglected 94 crown vic that had served me well for 9 years. Saved some money by not buying in June, but a bit more patience would have saved even more money. Couldn't wait, wanted to be one of the first in Hsv,AL. Plan on keepin it stock, reading this board, might be a rarity. Don't know much about cars, in 1976 my first car was a black 75 mustang fastback with a white interior. Looked nice, but wasn't Ford's proudest moment.

Love the car, enjoy the looks I get, and really like this board for info. Never noticed that my wiper blade was off a little till I read it here. Plus I haven't driven it in the rain yet. Still have swirls, Zaino and turtle wax haven't done the trick for me. I am also starting to get some cupping on the inside of my front tires. Not sure what to do there. Check your trunk lid stops, 1 of mine worked itself off and the other was loose.

Looking forward to Ennis, hoping too hook up with a caravan ( taf, I'll get back with you) and meet even more there. Have a dozen or so posters I would like to trade for some badges and pins... Haven't heard any mention, but some are saying they are staying at Holiday Inn, but my impression that they changed names to Days Inn where I plan to stay.

But now i am getting scared of dealer service.
Went to dealer last Friday for 3rd oil change and afterwards studied the receipt and discovered that they put in 7 qts, dipstick check confirmed. Also discovered that they did it at 2nd oil change.
Any thoughts on 2500 miles with 7 quarts?

Welcome back.

Anything I post on the extra oil would be a WAG, so I will leave that to the more knowedgeable here, and RF.

I have mine changed at a Ford Quality Service Center, my wrench told me my engine takes 6 and 1/2 qts. Thats what they put in and the stick reads right at the top end of Max range.

This happened to me as well but it slipped my mind until now.

Have fun on the cruise!

BCKNBLK - Too much oil is worse than not enough. Have the dealer remove the extra quart ASAP. As you know the MM holds 6 quarts of oil.

Yes, had them do it right the next day. The guy claims 2003 Lincolns and Grand Marquis take 7. Took a bit to convince the guy that I only needed 6. Still, can't find any answer to potential problems with having driven 2500 miles with 7 quarts.

So what you're REALLY saying is you drove 2500 miles and never checked the oil... :nono:

Seriously, if you didn't notice anything was wrong, then you probably didn't do any damage...as jgc said, being too high is worse than being a little low, but being ½ to 1 quart high isn't TOO bad, as long as you don't thrash your car a lot...

BTW, I change my own oil, and it takes just shy of 6 quarts w/filter...I think your dealer's AFU if he says GMs take 7...moreso since he didn't realise that the Marauder motor is NOT THE SAME as a GM's... :shake:

Hi and welcome back!!!:D .

If you are still having probs with swirl marks you might try Eagle 1. I have yet to use Zaino. So I dont know. Just my 2 cnts.

After one of my first oil changes (early morning), I drove to the office and let the car sit in the garage all day. That evening, when I cranked her up, I saw a big cloud of smoke coming out the rear of the car. Smelled like burning oil. Went back to the dealer the next morning, and sure enough, they had put in a quart too much. They took out a quart (I checked myself to be sure), and haven't had any smoking since. Amazing how dealer mechanics can screw up something so simple, and with such potential for damage.
