Do my wondering eyes deceive me?

As I'm walking through the parking lot to my MM, I saw what appeared to be another MM drive past on the road in front of my office.

Using my lightning-like speed, I dash behind the wheel, gun the MM out of my slot and race to the entrance to the office park. No luck, it appears he's already turned and since we’re at the top of a curve, I can't see which way he's gone.

Taking a gamble, I turn right. Ah ha! Good choice. There he is ahead of me on Hillsboro Road in Green Hills and I'm right behind him. His license plate reads “1000M.”

Since it's lunch-time on the busy four-lane, I can't be sure of getting beside him and not being left in the lurch by some wingnut trying to turn left. So I bide my time for several lights ... until a slot opens up next to him and the light turns red. I gun it and swerve into the adjacent lane, honking the horn.

A distinguished-looking, silver-haired gentleman looks over from behind the wheel and exclaims ... “You're only the second one I've seen.”

We chatted about MM ending in '04. Seems he only bought his MM in March and it has 10,000 miles. I told him I got mine in August and I’m just now inching up on 10k.

The light has turned green, but we’re still talking and blocking both lanes of traffic. I quickly added, “Have you been to MercuryMarauder.net yet?” “No,” he responds.

“Check it out,” I say. “It’s a great community of MM owners.”

I hope he’s reading this right now, because not only didn’t I get his name and I didn’t have the chance to give him mine.

I’d really like to see a MM club start here, but its so hard when you have to hunt them down one at a time. I didn’t even get to tell him about Ennis next month.

Let us hear from you soon 1000M.
