JUST GOT MY MM, AND FIND THAT WHEN I OPEN EITHER FRONT DOOR, THE TOP OF THE DOOR FRAME CATCHES ON AND PULLS THE RUBBER WEATHERSTRIP. ANY QUICK FIX ?

ALSO, FOUND A GUY WHO CAN PUT ON A PERFECT PAINTED PINSTRIPE USING A ROLLER WHEEL. SAW IT ON A REGULAR GRAND MARQUIS, AND IT WAS RIGHT ON THE BODY CREASE ABOVE THE DOOR HANDLE. WAS THINKING ABOUT A DUAL VERY THIN PINSTRIPE IN A LIGHT GRAY AND A DARKER GRAY COLOR. ANY OPINIONS ?

Bob,

Which weather strip? The one just below the roofline or between the front and rear doors? Sounds like a "fit and finish" tweak for the dealer...

The pin strip sounds like it would look pretty good. I have seen a SS that has stripes like that, but in red, and it was sharp...

I put a thin double light grey pinstripe just above the door handles. I think it made a huge improvement in looks. The dealership was impressed when they saw it. Go for it.

I dug this out of the archives, My passenger side door does this. There is a TSB service bullitein on this issue. Supposedly they (FORD)fix this by super glueing the two pieces of weatherstripping together Bubble type to the outside Blade type. I asked the dealer to fix this and they performed this to the drivers door and it looks a bit HOKEY!! I feel they should replace both front doors (weatherstrip) the one they Fudged and the one at fault. I can't believe ford is getting so Hillbillyish on thier TSB's. Can't we get parts that just work?? Am I out of line here??

No help for the weather strip other than let the dealer work on it. Got any pics of pinstripes???

I had the same issue with my weather stripping on my '01 GM. My dealer replaced both solving the issue.
Currently my MM is doing the same thing, and will take it to them along with a few other things on my list, giving them something to do.
Try some STP spray silicone as I have. Temporary fix.
BTW, .. Love the site!

The dealership has a fix for the weatherstrip sticking issue. This is a very common issue with new cars. One treatment will fix it for ever.

The product they use comes in a small tube similar to ambesol. It is made by DuPont and is called Krytox.

As far as pinstriping, I do all my own vinyl and ran one single 1/32" stripe down each side.
One doesn't need a roller to do good striping, just a little practice and experience with fussing with vinyl. A good eye helps too.

I'll second the caps....

:welcome:

BTW: You have a fine bunch of members down there (SUNSHINE MARAUDERS), hook up with them and you won't go wrong. They are having a really cool meet here soon up in Bradenton. This would be a good op to meet some folks and get some questions answered.
