I have read several posts from different members that indicate there 0-60 times and 1/4 miles times after modifications; however these appear to be what Mercury claims the car does stock. The Mercury website claims a 0-60 of 6.6 seconds ans a 1/4 mile time in the 14 second area. I have also read reviews in both Car and Driver and Motor Trend that have the 0-60 times in the high sevens and 1/4 miles time in the mid to high 15s. :( What gives? :help:

I don't know about the factory numbers.
Car and Driver and Road and Track use a 5th wheel to measure performance numbers so those times are always slower than RUN 1/4 times at the track.

Don't get me started about "roll out" at the track but thats why track times are faster.

7K MILES
K&N Air filter
Flow master 2 chambers
1/4 tank
Sacramento Raceway,Ca.
100 degrees in the shade
5 passes
14.88 -15.02

i would guess a bit faster with cooler and more dense air - maybe 0.1 - 0.2 but not much more than that.

Do you have the gears and chip?

no gears - no chip - just flow masters and K&N

no burnout
drive around the water
deep stage
a/c off
windows up
2200 rpm launch low gear
break stand until green
shift at 5500 - 5600

don't shut it off between runs - helps maintain consistency

lets face it it a 4200lb car with 4.6l / 300hp / torque challenged. it's not going to launch hard - 60 times will be embarassing. the best strategy i can figure is to load the coverter just below stall and let her rip until we start making some hp.

all that goes out the window after i get the vortec in it. may actually have to learn how to drive her - rather than point and click.
