The other day someone posted as to how they had done their calipers with "Dupli-Color", using a heat gun I believe. Of course now I can't find the post!

I saw this from Eastwood and wondered if anyone had tried it. Looks very simple and seems like it would do a good job.

Price looks very good too.

I just did my calipers last Friday with the Dupli-Color kit. No heat gun necessary. Just jack up all four wheels and have at it! It dries to the touch within an hour. I started at 8am and was done by 11. Did two coats.

Did you use the boxed kit they have at Canadian Tire?

I went with the G2 stuff last year. Went on wicked easy and still looks great. I highly recommend it.

Yes sir..that'd be the one. 25 bucks at Canadian Tire. Just make sure you lay down some garbage bags underneath, or you'll make a mess of your driveway.

I used duplicolor and it was dull and constantly needed touch ups. I then repainted my calipers with Folia Tec caliper paint. This is a two part process and the results are phenomenal. The paint dries to a hard ceramic looking finish and has held up to the heat flawlessly. More money than duplicolor but worth every penny:twocents:

Like nearly ALL of us whom coated our calipers.

Toss EASTWOOD into a search and prepare to wade.

Theres my thread you are probably referring to. I used the Duplicolor kit. I used the spray cleaner they provided and a stainless steel toothbrush to get em nice and clean and rough for the paint. I applied 2 coats on each caliper and used a heat gun to "cure" each coat. They came out very nice, its been a couple weeks already, theyve gone through mud, rain, lots of dust, and they still look awesome, the paint looks wet.

Good thing is, I still have over 1/2 the can of paint left so if I need to touch them up, I have plenty of paint to do so.

Hope that helps.

I'm not having as much luck with the G2 kit. I painted my calipers with it last June and now I'm having rust coming up through the paint (2-3 coats on each caliper). However, it has remained looking fantastic on my rotor hubs, front and back.

I used the Dupli Color kit a couple months ago. Still looks good and was easy to use. Only 17 bucks too, that way you can change the color if you like without blowing more money.

We'll see how long it lasts...

I used the g2 and i highly recommend taking the calipers off the car and bench painting them its is way easier than scootin around on a floor jack for two hours, just get a one man brake bleeding cup (i paid 8 bucks) and your back on the road in minutes. I also used duplicolor ready mixed quart black on my hood and it sprayed like a crappy can of old spraypaint and f**cked up my hood i used dupont clear and it came out of the gun in a perfect flow. I see their manufacturing standards have not come up very far. Looks like i'll stay with good trusted brands like eastwood, g2, and dupont.

And your paint will only be as good as your prep. Don't get in a hurry wanting to see color, properly wire brush, sand, and thoroughly clean and let dry before you even think about mixing the paint.

and they are still black.....good kit for the cake......i still have enough left over for another trip around the car and i havent felt the need..........

I started doing mine yesterday, I took off the mounting bracket, wire brushed it to bright metal, (with a wire brush on a drill motor), and cleaned it with denatured alcohol, then painted it black. Then I took the caliper, wire brushed it in the same manner, alcohol cleaned it and painted it red. Then we took a ride to the marina to see my BIL for an hour, came home, put on another coat of paint on each piece, then put it all back together. How you can do all four calipers in one day is beyond me. I still have the inside of the wheel to paint.

I'm not having as much luck with the G2 kit. I painted my calipers with it last June and now I'm having rust coming up through the paint (2-3 coats on each caliper). Rust won't come through 2-3 coats of G2 unless the coats were excessively thin, or the calipers were't prepped well.

I 've got five years on mine and with a little windex, they shine as if it were 5 days.

The product is extremely reliable.
