My friend has exhaust cut outs on his car that open at 4000 rpm.
Has anyone tried this on an MM or would it be worth it?
Were do they go, in front of the second set off cats if still installed?

TooManyFords has/d them. I was going to install them, but decided not too, figure I would get into too much trouble with them. They were the electronic so a flip of the switch and they would open or close.

This is a solid company. I won ONE of these, never got around to ordering a second one so it's on a shelf. May look into installing when my Trilogy is broken in.
Check out the videos, they show all the details you want.

Have a cutout on my Supra, its awesome. Definately like having a Jeckyl and Hyde car. I thought about doing it to the Marauder, but Im not sure yet. Quicktime is a very good company, Id recommend them.

Notice any real improvement in the 1/4? Or do you use them for road course stuff? I've heard minimal data on long-term in-service units, and have often wondered about the longevity. I've also put off getting them since I'm N/A, but my Trilogy is on it's way across the country to me as we speak. I realize the exhaust will be my next "power adder", and that adding only headers or mufflers is, well, silly. Seeing as my next mod will be a baby car seat, I was wondering if this cheap way of uncorking the tubes is worth it.

This kit might be in my future....Wanna see what type of real world gains I can get.

I think it's worth getting this mod just for the fun factor.
That sounded great!

I don't think you'll see any gains, in fact you may actually decrease performance since your eliminating back pressure in the exhaust system.

Yeah, I'm thinking n/a wouldn't benefit much, but my Trilogy kit is ready to install. After that, I think exhaust mods will be a good place to make gains.

I had the electric QTP cutouts on my car for a while. I removed them as they continually leaked a bit and for my set-up had no performance gains at all. In fact I lost power with them. They were great though when a ricer came up next to me to challenge me. I would open them up at the light and nearly blow him onto the sidewalk:lol:. Needless to say, he didn't want to challenge me anymore. They were fun.

That's sad to hear that they leaked, that's the part that would concern me most. Did you ever send them back?
And though I beleive you if you say it, how exactly did they cost you power? Since I'm just about to install my Trilogy, exhaust mods were my next step after that. Can you tell me how opening up the exhaust on an s/c MM can be a bad thing? You're in the10s, so any advice from you is welcome.

It helps you off the line with bottom end power, but due to our small displacement motors effected the mid range and high end power. Isn't in the cards for overall power due to our small displacment motors. Go with a nitrous shot, better low end grunt to get our heavy cars moving.

Did you use a progressive opening NOS shot? I keep hearing about all the traction problems to expect as the hp numbers go up. I have zero interest in getting a set of slicks, as any 1/4 mile times I give MUST be (for me) attainable in the real world. Can't exactly swap tires when a guy pulls up next to you and revs his engine.;) What do you think your car would run on regular street tires? (eg Nitto 555s, KDWs, etc)

It'd likely run into the wall at Tom's power levels.

With a Trilogy you will have plenty of low end torque. I use a direct 100 shot only for drag racing to give me more low end torque to move the car off the lights. I also use Nitto Drag radials on the car for both drag racing and normal street driving. I drag race with the tires at 16 pounds (best of 1.610 sixty foot) put the air back in to 28 pounds and drive home. No problem at all with traction.

Wasn't there a muffler from Ford Racing that had a valve in it?
