Well I gone and done it and it is all my fault. Before anyone criticizes me for being a dumb kid playing around I wasnt and I found out after the fact that I had had a concussion from a head injury at work and was unaware of said fact at time of incident (ala Tony Romo). Anyway around 10:30pm, last Thursday May 15th, I was leaving a local park here in Lufkin and as I was doing so people were turning out the lights to said park. Now let me let you in on how this park looks at night with no lights except your head lights, there are no reflectors of any type to mark edges, driving roads are fairly narrow, and it is pitch black all around you. Basically dark as Hades. Well I was just letting off the brake and pulling around my left side of a car parked next to me, while facing a lit softball field, when someone had turned off that fields lights. That action caused a flash upon my eyes, like I said I had a concussion which does not allow you to adjust to light change quickly, that seemed to only temporarily disorient me. Wrong I was yes! Well I blinked twice and saw what I thought was the incline road leaving the park and heading to the road so I began to go ahead and accelerate up to 25mph when at around 20mph (I pressume) I noticed that the incline I had seen was in fact a rising tree line and all I was seeing was the bottom going up from the light of my head lights. So, with about 15 feet before the concrete ended and very soggy grass (rain from the past 3 days) began I tried to brake to no avail. Miliseceond later I let out of brake for about long enough to go back down and cut wheels to right to try and avoid trees. I managed a very small amount of control but enough to get the car away from a full head on collision to just a LF, but still with a very unmoving tree. If you are wondering how I made this horrible mistake this is how. The exit was sitting almost exactly to 8 o'clock position and when the lights went out and that flash happend I was disoriented enough to be going to my 10 o'clock position instead. The road leaving is in a very large V with trees in the middle and the road going to right going deeper into park. I found myself on the edge of the right side of the V after my attempted maneuvers. So far total damage is around $7500 and still not totalled. Me and my passenger were not harmed bc as I said we were going about 15-20mph. I am devastated bc I feel like a bum but can take some solace in the fact that I did have a concsussion. To all those that believe that I was goofing off too bad bc if I was goofing off I can say without question that there would have been no risk of accident bc I only "goof off" in the safest possible area so that I dont do what was done. But hey to each there own. It will be at least 30+ days before I get it back so I will be a very sad young man. Thanks to all for concerns but I have nothing more than a broken heart and a wounded ego! See yall around.

Sorry to hear of this accident and am glad that no one was hurt. $7,500 damage -- need to see pics of the car AND the alleged tree. ;)
I don't really understand the explanation. Unless your headlights were off or misadjusted, I can't figure out how you couldn't see the road properly. If you were disoriented by the "flash", there is only one correct course of action -- STOP.

Yeesh. I am going to drive home really slow from work tonight. Glad you weren't hurt! Your beast will be as good as new when done. I find that the repainted sections of my car have noticeable better paint quality than original if I look really closely.

I have been on boats when visibility quickly went to 0 and we lost our orientation.
We stopped and idled to maintain steerage until we regained out orientation.
Hope everything works out with the Marauder, glad you are not hurt.
I suggest you go to a "Brain Doctor", it takes a long time for the brain to heal.

Dang dude, glad you're OK. Now I know why your car wasn't at work Monday morning when I came by. Are you back at work or still off?

Dain Bramage is a terrible thing. Make sure you follow all the doctors advice. You may feel o.k., but these kinds of things can happen. GLad you're not hurt from the car accident.

I agree but I thought I did see the road properly that was the problem! Remember I had a concussion so things didnt look as they should or how I viewed them. No other explaination. I will try to get pics for all but the car is already in the shop. I had it there the next day.

Why does everyone sound like my wife, its verbatim. I know I should but all hes going to do is tell me to take it easy and life is too short. Besides we all are our own best guess of our health especially any athletes that paid attention when they were being told about thier inuries. Thanks all for concern.

We are all concerned about you....no offense intended but you are not a Dr.....therefore you dont know what he is going to say....what if you need a catscan and they find something wrong....better safe than sorry....besides if it is an on the job injury, they should be paying for it.

I have partial night blindness so I can "see" part of what you are saying. But if you can't see, you need to stop.
The poor tree.

I need a little help. I tried searching but didnt find any information. The accident seems to have knocked my rear alignment out along the frame. The bodyshop doesnt seem to think that this is the case bc the frame is supposed to be "collapsable". If any one knows better please let me know. BTW the pics are coming soon, he had a problem w his memory card loading the pics, maybe Mon.
