I've noticed that since getting supercharged that my intake tube near the throttle body is quickly getting the paint rubbed off in one spot by the hood liner. I can only assume that I will have to cut away some of the hood liner to remedy this. Anyone else run accross this and have a solution they have tried?

Try new clips for the liner or make sure the ones that are there are tight.

Which supercharger are you running?

I think I can help - I make hood liners from aircraft firewall material for '88 to '97 Thunderbirds, '97 to '98 Lincoln Mark VIIIs, '87 to '98 Mustangs, '86 & '87 Grand Nationals, and really any car. I'd love to make some for Marauder drivers but I just don't have a template yet. I can also supply a silver vinyl decal with the Marauder lettering, or a custom one if you'd like.

Here's a link to a '98 Mark VIII and a hoodliner I made for it:

Here are a few of a Buick Turbo Regal I did recently:

The liners are secured in place with 3M #80 spray adhesive and conform to the ridges and contours of the underhood area, giving more clearance than the stock liner, plus my liners don't rot out or get dirty like the stock ones. The original push pins can be re-used as well.

Anyone interested?

This is my first post here, I regularly post on the Thunderbird and Cougar Club of America forum (TCCOA.com). Someone who owns a Crown Vic Police Interceptor wrote me there saying I should introduce myself here and let the Marauder community know I make custom hoodliners for cars from aircraft material. I just made one for a '97 P71 with a custom vinyl decal.

Thanks and please forgive me if I'm out of line!

Hi fastblackmerc,

I'd love to make one for you, however I don't have a template yet. Marauders just aren't found at any of my local junkyards!

Am I correct in stating that the 1998 to 2005 Crown Vics and Grand Marquis shared the same hood? If so then they also had the same liner and perhaps I can find one of those to make a template out of.

My liners go for $95, decals are usually $15 - $25 depending on size, and shipping is $13. The liners are light and come rolled, they're not stiff like the originals.

Pictured here is the liner I just made for that '97 Crown Vic. The decal isn't placed yet, that's for the owner to decide where to put it.

Thanks!

No further interest? Mine really blow away stock liners.

I might be interested, does it have the same safety features that a regular hood liner would have in being flame retardant?

Yes it does, it outperforms the original in that respect plus durability. It's not stiff like the original liner, it needs the 3M #80 adhesive to be held in place, therefore it will conform to the underhood framing like you see in the linked images. Your original liner comes off, you clean the underhood with a degreaser, then mine is installed with the adhesive. The decal goes on next. This is all done with the hood OFF the car.

I still have yet to locate a template and then a Marauder with mine installed to get pics to show.

Here's a link to the TCCOA.com thread with more info and questions from MN-12 Thunderbird and Cougar owners:

I've made liners for Thunderbirds, Cougars, Mustangs, Grand Nationals, etc.

The liners do look nice. The OEM hood liner for '98-'08 Crown Vic is the same, but the cutout for underhood light went away in '04. It looks very similar to the one you pictured for the '97.

Thanks Brian - getting an original liner to use as a template won't be a problem, until someone installs it on their car (or I can do it of they're in the metro Detroit area) all I'll have is a photo of my liner on my workbench.

Did the 2003 have a light and the 2004 didn't?

I'm certain that clearance issues will be solved with my liner, since it's 1/4 inch thick and will adhere to the underhood.

tbirddmnd;

I have both a Marauder and a Grand Marquis and the hood liners are the same shape. The Marauder's is a little thicker. Clip placement is the same.

My 04 Marauder and 05 Grand Marquis do not have underhood lites.

For Marauder131, my underhood insulator is also rubbing my intake tube.

Pending a resolution to this problem I just put a piece of clear plastic laminating material as a temp buffer.

Thanks Pat for the info. I went to a nearby junkyard today and the newest wreck there for what I needed was a '94. Search continues.

Thanks again, I'd really like to help out someone in the metro Detroit area with one of my liners so I can snag a few pics!
