I met up with a black cobalt SS at the lights, his lisence plate was Slobalt which gave me a pretty good laugh...at first he looked like he wanted to go so i revved up the marauder a little bit and he just shook his head as in no. Light goes green and he takes off very fast..i was a little confused but i put the pedal to the floor and we were off...I hit 130km and that was enough for me so i let off, he had about a car length on me...i guess it wasnt that slow :bigcry:. My only mod is JLT Cai and a preset tune.

Been there, bro. Exact same thing happened to me, against the same car, and I had the exact same mods as you. Welcome to the world of power-to-weight ratios. I'm in the process of scheduling my Trilogy install to make sure that never happens again!!
You've gotta check out a few car mags to see the stats; knowing when to not take the bait is important in a 4000+ lbs car!
I had my butt kicked by Cobalts SS, SRT-4 Neon, G35 Nissan, BMW M3...then I looked up a stats page on the web....put things into perspective.

Don't kick yourself, there's a couple mean one's floating around by me. I think they're faster than an SRT-4.

About 225 hp to the front wheels. More than enough to trounce a stock MM. Sadly...

Only from a dig.
I took my friends cobalt SS (with a pulley, intake, and exhaust upgrade) with my stock rauder from about 20, kept him behind my bumper whole time. Accomplished this with similar results several times also. But it may also be the driver with crappy shifting. Whatever it was I earned Marauders a bit of respect.

Yea i think from a roll it woulda been a much better race..when we went from a dig i didnt even think we were going to race until i heard his fart can and he leaped to a 3/4 car length lead before i even floored it.
The cobalt SS comes factory super charged.

Aren't the '08's turbo'd? Don't remember for sure.
I've driven the Saturn Ion Redline which is the same S/C'd motor. Pretty quick, but not fast.
What I find amusing is that they don't get much better MPG than our cars. The guy I talked to said he got about 23mpg on the highway.
The new models come with turbo's i believe. Maybe tito will chime in he's the resident expert on chevys.
i raced one at the track the other day happen to line up against him a few times, first two times i beat him by a good car length, then apparently he remembered we were racing and he beat my ass three times

Yep new ones pack 260hp turbo. They'll be SRT4 eaters.

What do SRT4s do in the quarter mile? I've never faced a Cobalt, but I did whoop a Nissan 350 and Infiniti G35 from a roll.

They do the 1/4 in just about 14 flat. If you get a good driver you can probably do a mid 13.

They're fast but so FUGLY!!
I never had a Cobalt (SuperCharged or Tubro) for lunch yet, on or off the track. They would be a good snack. I am getting tired of eating STI and EVO's.:banana2:
the one that i raced was beat me by at least a car length or two and i did 14.8

If you want to see the real acceleration times of these cars have alook at the 5-60mph test results.
The Subaru WRX on 0-60 5K+ Ctutch drops times look fantastic, but they break transmission regularly doing this. The 5-60 mph times tell another very different story.

Yes and no. There is the Cobalt SS trim level, the next trim level up is with supercharger. The top trim level for the coupe is the SS S/C, for the sedan is just the SS level with no S/C.
Silly imports will be crying all the time if Ford puts out the twin-turbo 4.0 V6 engine and slaps it in the new Mustangs, hell why they are at it they need to turbocharge the GT trim as well for good measure lol.
