I need to know for importing into canada. Do the american Marauders come with daytime running lights? :help:

Adem - Welcome to the site. You can purchase the DRL kit from FMC for about $60.00. Enjoy your new ride.

If I remember correctly, doesn't the manual say something about being able to do this with some funky working of the Light Switch? I'll see if I can find it when I get by a manual.

Or you can take a piece of black electrical tape and tape it over the sensor, which is mounted on top of the driver side dashboard. You know the thing which flashes red, when the alarm is on. The sensor for the DRL is in there. Or so I have been told. This may not be exactly legal, but it does the trick.
Good luck.

I think you need to have the paper work at the border that says it has been done.
Other than that, i think you need to pay the GST on the vehicle bringing it accross the border. I'm not sure if thats all. Does anyone else know anymore about importing a vehicle into canada?

Adem:
Not to change the subject, but why would you want to import an American version? I thought the Canadian versions were the same as American 300Bs (with Traction Control)...wouldn't it be cheaper to buy one up there than to pay to have one modified, and all the extra import duties, taxes and so forth?
No disrespect intended, just being nosy... :D

I'm just looking at getting the best price. There arent many up here that are for sale for reasonable prices. The ones i can find with mileage (10000 or so), guys still want 40 grand (19 us or so) for them. U guys are selling them for as low as 21 us or 29 canadian. So since there are more down there, the market seems to have more reasonable prices. If its reasonable to import, i dont care if my speedo is in miles. I can convert if the price is right :bandit:

I read the manual and it does have a method to turn on DRL (if equipped). I didn't remember that last part, but like the other guy said, looks like it's available. If you can get it for the 60.00, that's not bad!

Turn on DRL? This would mean there is a way to turn OFF the DRLs? I've been resorting to fuse pulling whenever I'm in a situation where I need to idle for a long time (A/C, radio, etc.) but do not want DRLs on all the time (for instance, a Drive In movie).
What specifically is the way to turn it on, as per the manual... I must have missed it!!
I didn't think there were any of those anymore!

I went back and read the manual more closely this time and it says, now get this...
To activate: The key must be on, parking brake released, and headlamps off or in parking lamps position..
Good grief, that just means if your driving they are on, but I guess even so, that might do you some good. Maybe if you are at the drive-in and put the parking brake on, they will go off, but what about your brake light if your key is on?

One of the cars /Steve forgot to list in his growing sig is:
1983 DeLorean Time Machine, left over from "Back to the Future"
How many litres does it take to fill the Mr. FusionŠ flux capacitor, Steve?

Yep, that's what I read in the manual...
... and the manual turns out to be wrong. Same with the factory service manual. :mad2: (I should keep a list of mistakes I've found in those service manuals...)
Seems that for 2003 or thereabouts, they did away with that DRL-on-when-parking-brake-released deal.
On every other car I've ever driven that had DRLs, they were off as long as you started the car with the parking brake on, and only came on once the brake was released. But Ford just HAD to be different for 2003...
I've honestly thought about retrofitting a parking brake switch and wiring from an earlier Panther just to get this functionality back, or at the very least wire some sort of bypass circuit and switch to kill the DRLs, but as it is I'm behind even on my simple little foglamp-highbeam mod ! (I'm sitting here staring at the modified foglamp cutoff relay, just waiting to be installed)
As for drive-ins... yep, there are still a few in operation around Montreal. I was surprised, they still draw a fair crowd.

Actually, the Time Machine usually gets about 10 minutes per liter, backwards. ;)
Speaking of growing list of cars in sigs... if I get around to selling my Honda sometime soon (work has been... um... hell) I might consider a second Panther in my stash of cars, to allow my cherished MM to sit out the nastiest slushy days in the winter... it's just a passing thought for now, and if anyone mentions it to my wife, I'll be:

Nonetheless, would be fun to increase my cylinder index to 40 from its current 36, with 5 V8s to my name. :D

DRL and the Drive-In Movies
and/or watching "submarines"

Glad to hear that program
in the USA has gone south!
Gotta Love It!
