I'm thinking about flushing my tranny and replacing the fluid with the Royal Purple tranny fluid. Anyone done this? Thoughts??

IMHO, I don't think it's worth it. Just use a name-brand Mercron V fluid.
I ran some Redline 5w20 oil and didn't notice any difference except it cost alot more than Mobile1.

I use Castrol Mercon V, I get it few bucks cheaper by the case.

Royal Purple is excellent fluid, but won't do anything better than any other Mercon V...except remove money from your wallet.

I like Redline ATF and use it despite the cost. I also use Redline oil and diff oil.
I like a line of products that's complete for my application. Unlike FBM, I do notice a slight difference on the Redline even above Mobil1. I like the Redline ATF since my trans seems to run a bit hotter than most and I replace 6 quarts by draining the pan every 10K or so. Lastly I like the diff fluid because it DOES NOT require the additional friction modifier. Also it's Honey clear and easy to evaluate it's condition. I replaced my cover with a girdle cover with fill and drain holes. I ran a fill through it to get rid of all the Ford fluid and frction modifier and then drained and filled again. I use water wetter in my radiator. All this stuff is convenient, too, because it comes as a 'power pack' from Redline.
Last I checked, RP was not Mercon V rated. New stuff comes out every day, so maybe it is now.
Every car is different here. We've proved that beyond doubt. Use what you like and gives you confidence. I like the convenience vs. cost/quality/performance of how I'm doing things right now.

As many other have said, they use Motorcraft cause they know it works.
When in doubt use OEM.
