This probably has been discussed a million times but I could not find it in the search. Just got the animal back from the body shop. To complete the perfect look (If this weather where supposed to be getting in Chicago the next couple of days doesn't ruin it), I would like to put new plugs and fuel filter on this weekend. I do not have a owners manual, so can sombody please tell me the plug gap and the location of the fuel filter? Just going to put another set of Platinums in, nothing special. I would like to get the same as the original plugs if the auto store by me has them. I have no mods on the car but a K&N CAI. Any suggestions of plugs that might possibly go along with this? Thanks ahead of time.

The fuel filter is on the passenger side frame rail. As for the plug gap, I couldn't tell ya since I never changed them while I was N/A, and I think for blown applications they're different.

Motorcraft plat's are good if your stock.

I think I read on here somewhere that the Denso's are good.

.052-.056 for your gap

.052-.056 for your gap^^^what he said^^^ Stick with Motorcraft, Autolite (who makes them for Motorcraft), or NGK. The Densos are good, but not worth the $8/ea price.

Regarding your fuel filter, stay away from FRAM...they rust very quickly. Stick with Motorcraft, NAPA Gold or Wix.

I believe there is a special tool involved in the changing of the fuel filter.
Prolly can be purchased at the auto parts store or maybe from a dealer.

No special tool is required. It uses the common nylon hairpin clips on both ends. They can usually be removed without any tools, but a small flatblade screwdriver is sometimes handy.

No kidding! After I broke mine, drove around without them (no leaks or problems) to find replacements. The local dealer wanted a small fortune (approx $17.00 ea !!!!?). Eventually a friend gave me a couple from his shop stock.
Are these clips available from local parts stores? Any part no's..

The plastic clips that came with my Napa filter were too big or thick to work. So, I filed them down and now they fit just fine.

The push release clips only break if you use them improperly. They are meant to be pushed in, NOT pulled out. Read the wiki article here (https://www.mymarauder.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fuel_Filter).

You should relieve the fuel pressure using the following procedure:

Remove fuel pump relay (#203) located in engine compartment power distribution box.
Start engine and run until it stalls.
After stalled, start engine for 5 seconds to relieve remaining pressure.
Turn off ignition.... as stated here (https://www.mymarauder.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fuel_Filter).

Here are some of the fuel filters that will work.

Purolator – F65277
Fram – G8018
Motorcraft – FG986B
WIX – 33595
NAPA ProSelect – SFI23595
NAPA Gold – FIL3595
AutoZone - FF686 – 2” diameter fuel filter
AutoZone - FF745 – 3” diameter fuel filter

Filter clips
NAPA - FILNCK11 – qty. 10 fuel filter clips

You can also go with a larger filter. The clips are the same and you'll need a large screw-type hose clamp to secure the filter to the original bracket. Some filters come with clips, if they are too small just file them down as stated previously.

To release the fuel pressure put a rag around the pressure test port on the fuel rail (looks like a tire valve) and depress the core. Do this on a cold engine and use the rag to collect the gas.

NGK Laser Platinum – PTR5C-13

Thanks! I'll try this next time around. It's just that I had bought the Motorcraft filter from the dealer and later found out it doesn't even come with a spare set of clips (worth about $0.05). All other filters I've used come with a spare set. I go back to the dealer and they want almost $10.00 each for them! :mad2:You'd think they were made of oil or something....
