It seems, according to my local tire dealer, that the Hankook, Ventus ST RHO6 155/55/18 is discontinued. Tire rack no longer lists them, nor does WheelMax. Edgeracing.com and Roadwaywhole.com still show them, don't know about stock availability.

The dealer said it has been replaced by the RHO7, anyone know about this tire?

The Nitto 420S looks like a "fat" tire, I'm headed to the dealer to see in person. Don't like that look if it's looks like the picture in Nitto's site.

You mean these:

The tread pattern and tire specs really don't thrill me.

Pat, with what you have you really should be looking into some widened wheels with larger tires. Put some real meat on the pavement!:burnout:

Thanks Bobmiddle;

The Hankook size is out of stock and out of production, so let me look at the Kumho tire.

phooy;

The Kumho SPT or ASX doesn't come in 255/55/18. So It's back to BFG stock tires. Dealer here in town will do me for $173 per tire including tax (10%), mounting and balancing. That beats tire rack.

Thanks guys for your input.

The thing that surprised me was that there are NO weights on my rims !!!!!!Had them up to 80 today on dry pavement--smooth as silk. Gave them a pretty good workout on dry pavement today--acceleration from stop---chirp nearly every time--will spin if I really get into it. Very stable in aggressive cornering--no apparent sidewall give at 32 psi. On 1-2 shift, still get a slight side motion--with clear chirp. I believe they are quieter than BFGs--could be my tired old jet-ears;). In all, I am very happy so far. We are expecting rain tonite--will try to get a wet road test tomorrow--willl post results. I bought the Kumho Solus KH16 255/55/18 Touring version--they have identical specs as the Performance tire--with a different tread. I have OEM BFGs on the front. No problem with Traction Control. Will post pics of the tread with my wet road test tomorrow. Will get exact tread depth profile tomorrow and check them every 1,000 miles to see how they are wearing. So far so good--we'll see. Maury
Photos added--the tread appears deeper than the BFGs

Sure looks that way, doesn't it. '68 notchback?

The '68 has a plain insert on the rear--the '69 has raised lettering "Barracuda". That is a 95+ point original show car--have owned it since '77 and 16,000 miles--136,000 now. It's my pride and joy--but it is for sale--high dollar.For pics, check the thread on old cars. Now, back to the tires--had wet pavement this morning , the rain stopped about 30 minutes before I got out. I was pleasantly surprised---good traction on rapid acceleration--excellent in turning acceleration ( I thought I was going to be looking for a left rear rim)--I got in deeper and faster than planned--I know the BFGs would have let go--but no problem--rapid lane change good--in fact I didn't break them loose at all--want to see how they do in standing water--then I'll feel better--but all in all, a great improvement over the BFGs and you don't notice the tread difference between the front BFGs and the the new rears--looks pretty nice for a daily driver---now we'll see what kind of mileage I get--that's the question--keep you posted. I saw a black Marauder on Tuesday over there in Hurst about 8:00am, was that you Maury? :D :lol: I meet up with Maury for breakfast

Tires look good, I just wish both my rear would have gone out at the same time so I did not have to spend the money on those bad OEM BF tires. If I have my Vic still when it needs tires, I am going to go with the same Kumhos tires you have, but mine being a Crown Vic as a Marauder clone can use the same tire size all around.
