I think it would be fun to get a bunch of Marauders together this year. Let me know if you might be interested in showing your Marauder and what day would work best for you.

Thanks,
Curt

I'm going to try and do all three days this year. Don't know how if I can work that out though.

I'm bringing a friend with me this year and he might not be able to do all three days. I'll probably have to drive him home on Friday and go back on Saturday. (1.5 hours each way...ouch).

Saturday night I can stay at a friends house near the Citys.

Also, I think I've got Motorhead350 talked into coming. I think he wants to win the burn out contest ;).

Curt, I'm calling in my Rain Check (no PUN intended!)

Let me know what I need to do to show all three days. I think just register and then get there early to find a good shady spot. :D

Cheers!

I'd prefer to show on Sunday. Rosemount has their annual town celebration, so Saturday is a full day for us.

Here is the registration link.

We're planning on being there all three days, but only partial day on Saturday, as there is a family reunion in the afternoon/evening that we need to attend..... Hope to see you there!

Both cars are registered, but not sure which car we'll drive which day, the MM or the Torino. I'm Hopeing Wifey will drive MM and we can bring both!!

the only squishy part right now is that MM is in the body shop getting a VERY minor driving error fixed. Hopefully it'll be back in time to get some detailing in....

So when you're walking the grounds, keep an eye out for a Black Torino, with a dual quad big block and a four speed, or the MM.. I'll be nearby or back in a few minutes!

later!

Here is a map of the fair grounds. I think we should park somewhere with shade and close to the cheese curds:eek:

Not sure where I will be parking, but you can bet it will be somewhere that has a shady place to park my ass in a chair! You can only walk so far before resting.

But where we meet inside is not nearly as important as to where we are meeting after the show each night! We should try to get good spots near Porky's or somewhere on University to watch all the after-show shenanigans. THAT IS WORTH COMING TO WATCH!

LOL!

Do they allow saving parking spaces? Maybe the first person there could call to let other know where they parked? Maybe we can get a cell phone list for those that are attending? Just some thoughts.

I wish I had some accurate info. The way it stands right now is this; My friend Jordan and I are planning on all three days....If it rains.

We both literally need to make hay if the sun is shining.

If we get substantial rain between the 22-24th we'll be up for all three days....or maybe one day. We were offered a place to stay while at the show a few months ago by another friend. Now he's not returning my e-mails. Don't know what the problem is but if he ever wants to hunt here again he'd better call me soon. I'd just get a hotel for the weekend but I'm not leaving the Marauder in a parking lot.

Then to top this all off, I got rid of my cell phone a few months ago because it just didn't work out here in 'the sticks'.

I'd say count me as deffinately 1 day, and maybe 3 days.

I have been to (only) one of these huge car shows, and find them overwhelming. You can't look at 500 nice cars in one day, and they will have over 4,000, just in the show. Think of how many more cars (and people) will be there!

I'm just guessing, but I suspect there won't be any saving of spaces, good motel rooms (within 20 miles), or cars cruising with marginal cooling systems:

Saving spaces is very difficult, it can be done for a short time, if the space exists when you get there, but if it's a prime shady spot, people tend to get irate. The show has gotten so big, that it's getting really hard to save more than one or two spaces... get there early, is the best advise I can give.

Now then, that being said, not sure if we can do it at all this year, but there is a way to save spaces for next year.... if we plan just a little earlier, those who register early can use a 'club name', having 5 or more people register using the same 'club name' will allow us to form a 'club display' and park together.... maybe something simple like Marauder Freinds?

you will be able to pick up your registration goodies starting Thursday afternoon (I'll post the times when I find it).

I got something from SVTOATC that asked if I was going, and to let them know if I wanted to park with them? maybe they can save some room for us? Maybe one of you MN guys know them well enough to ask? I am coming Fri. night and will be there first thing on Sat.(not like the car show @ AV, when I got there late.) I think that getting together for dinner would be cool. Maybe we should do somekind of phone # thing where we can PM phone numbers to one, then that person can send out a list to the ones who are going.

...After dinner meaning the noon meal or the evening meal? See, us farm boys call the noon meal dinner and the evening meal supper...

dinner (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=dinner) :1297, from O.Fr. disner, originally "breakfast," later "lunch," noun use of infinitive disner (see dine (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=dine)). Always used in Eng. for the main meal of the day; shift from midday to evening began with the fashionable classes. Childish reduplication din-din is attested from 1905.

supper (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=supper):c.1275, "the last meal of the day," from O.Fr. super "supper," noun use of super "to eat the evening meal," which is of Gmc. origin (see sup (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=sup) (1)).
"Formerly, the last of the three meals of the day (breakfast, dinner, and supper); now applied to the last substantial meal of the day when dinner is taken in the middle of the day, or to a late meal following an early evening dinner. Supper is usually a less formal meal than late dinner." [OED] Applied since c.1300 to the last meal of Christ.

I parked my Cars (the Torino and the Marauder) with the rest of my family and freinds, but really enjoyed talking with everyone, doing a cruise lap with John (Leadfoot281), trying to keep the cars (sortof) clean with the rain on Friday, and the interesting experience of having 8 Torinos all nearly together within one block of each other on Sunday afternoon.

I had a blast meeting everyone, some for the first time and the regular partners in crime. The total cars came in just short of 8000 cars at the awards ceremony on Sunday, a true musclecar lovers paradise.

JohnK, it was really fun getting to meet you and share car knowledge for the weekend. And thank Linda for dinner for me too!

Paul, it's always good to sit and shoot the breeze with you. I do have to "out" you on the Porky's story though. It was Thursday night and I was finished working at the Wheelers branch so I headed over to Porky's to hang out and have a sammich. John and Paul were in town so I gave them directions and had them come over to watch some cool cars roll in. We're hanging out and it was about 10pm or so when a couple of the locals want to go do a little "test-n-tune" so we all get in our cars to follow and watch. The police followed the pair and shut it down before we even left University Ave. so I was only able to give John and Paul a ride in my car for a ways. We all get back to Porky's, standing around for a while and I turn to John and say, "Where's Paul?" We both turned to look and he is still sitting in my back seat. John says he thought Paul was on the phone but we go over to see. I open the back door and he's stuck! Paul can't get the belt button pushed to free himself! Well the regulars are all gathered around and some yells, "Clocks ticking!" LOL! I had to go around the other side and reach across to push the button. Good times my friend!!!

Jeremy, sure wish I had followed you over to the 0-60-0 challange. The smoky burnout I hear was AWESOME! A real crowd pleaser!

Curt, also good to walk around and watch you and Jeremy with the cameras. I do need lessons, that is for sure!

Everyone else, John and I are already making plans for next year. Grills, food, beverages and really making a go of it. I'm really looking forward to it again. This is really one show to hit for the midwesterners.

My drive home should have taken about 3 hours, but was just over 5. Once again, I hit rain on the way home and had to drive about 45. Those new rear tires are sticky, but on rain they are much worse than the radials I had before. tit for tat I guess. Car is safely in the garage and smells rain fresh! LOL

Cheers!

I'd love to have everyone over to my house one evening of the show for a get together. My wife is an excellent cook and host.

I posted on the SVTOATC web site and thanked them for letting us park with them. Hopefully we can park with them again next year.

Jeremy, it's always a pleasure hanging out with you photographing cars (and people). Thanks for driving my car in the 0-60-0 so I could see and hear what everyone else sees and hears. Sorry about not getting your burnout pics.

John (TMF), had a blast hanging out with you. Can't wait for next years shows. You are welcome to stay at my house for the Apple Valley Ford show and Back to the 50's show next year if you want. Your can have my wife's parking place in the garage.
