View Full Version : HELP! Can you adjust Shift Pressure?? ... Lidio Tune

So ... after breaking my gears in, I decided to finally see what she would do with 4.10's. On the first run, I heard the most beautiful music ... a second gear tire bark!!:banana2: Anyway, I have subsequently jumped on her a few times (you can tell that gas prices are really bugging me ) and I have found that the addictive second gear bark is inconsistent. Sometimes it happens ... sometimes it doesn't.

Is it possible (or even advisable) to bump up the WOT 1-2 shift pressure on a Lidio tune?? I love the bark (yes I know ... I'm a dork) and would prefer to hear it every time I go WOT. However, I don't want to bake my transmission in the process (but I could care less about my tires :D).

Remember,Even though you got your gears and a tune your still driving a 4200lb. car.Factor in heat,What surface your driving on and how much your beating on it it`s not going to chirp everytime. The fix? more H.P. or maybe a torque converter or both and then your next problem will be new tires.:burnout:

You will most definitely lose most or all of the bark with a torque converter ;)

^^^what Hack said^^^ ...and Zack, too...

I have a '68 Buick Gran Sport with a built Turbo 400 transmission and even though the shifts are super-quick, it won't chirp the tires EVERY time...neither will your MM. It does depend on temperature, speed, road surface, etc...

You can adjust line pressure, if it's setup in the user options

Thanks Dennis. Will that hurt the transmission? Will it make it unduly harsh for daily driving (instead of just on WOT)?

It is how he sets it up, but he is as good as they come.

I guess what I am asking is if I bump the line pressure higher than Lidio set it up will I be risking my tranny?

On my 2004 after the Lidio tune, the first time I drove her WOT into second gear she left a six-foot patch on upshift. It has NEVER happened again. Even in the rain the upshifts won't break them loose.

Problem solved!! With the Lidio tune it shifted harder. With the Lidio tune and 4.10 gears it barked the tires about 50% of the time. This afternoon, I installed a JLT CAI ..... Now .... she spins in second every pull (I'm embarassed to say how many times I've done this.) :burnout:

Now I can't wipe the :censor: :D off my face. :banana2:

I traded my 01 Bullitt in on the Merc to accomodate our growing family ... with the deal between my wife and I that we keep the Merc and add another Mustang as a weekend toy for yours truly in Sept 09 (as a little bandage over the fact that I will be turning the big 4-0). In the meantime, I have felt like the Marauder was a pig to drive. It reminded me of the 84 Monte Carlo SS I had as a teen .... weak. It was in desperate need of some Wheaties under the hood. Because it is a family car and I didn't want to make it too radical a Supercharger was out. Because Sept 09 is so far off, the wife agreed to allow me to inject a little life into her. With three mods I have made her quicker, better sounding and more fun. Kudos to Alternative Auto, Lidio, JLT Ford Racing and Big Wood Racing.

By the way ... Dennis ... thanks for your input on this thread. It takes a class act to help a customer who bought a competitor's product. I never expected anything less from you. (Now when it comes times for pulleys, spacer, Pro-guard, etc. ... I know who to go to.) Cheers to you ....

Why take the chance? You know Lidio is one of the best..... leave well enough alone.

fastblack ... I agree. I'm going to leave the tuning to the experts.
