It would seem that regardless of where I tell the climate control system to blast the air, it only comes out of the defroster (windshield). Could the valve be stuck or is there some POS electrical thingy that I need to pay somebody $90hr to replace?

Mike, it may be a few things, some cheap-o and some you don't even wanna KNOW the cost.

First, see if you have any vacuum at the reservoir. It's the square black box right on top of the driver's wheel well. With the engine off, pull the vacuum line and see if there is any. If so, then you need to troubleshoot further into the EATC module. I believe there's a button sequence that will display any error codes.

Do the correct vents work when the car is idling in Park, then go to Defrost mode when you're driving? If so, then look for the post called "Fixed my EATC" by JACook. It explains what you need to do to correct the issue...I have plenty of the o-rings if you need them.

Let us know how you make out so far...

I'm to look for vacuum with the engine off? but with the key on acc, right?

The vents don't work at all. No vents or floor, only defrost.

I'll check it out when I get home from work.

I'm to look for vacuum with the engine off? but with the key on acc, right? No, it's not necessary to have the key on. If the system is tight, that reservoir should hold vacuum basically forever.

If the EATC works ONLY in defrost mode, no matter what, then you *may* have a bad unit...that's the part you don't wanna know what it costs...what did you pay to have your Reinhart Stage 1 stuff installed?...think that price range for the EATC module alone.

Yeah.
I did a search on the "fixed my EATC". Not good. Looks like the junkyard may be my best bet. I could always just fall back on the ol' 4/60 air.

Mine is half fixed, air still comes out floor and defroster on FLOOR and DEFROST but I have vent so that's all I really care about. It sucked really bad last year during MVV and it has just started several days before hand lol.

I replaced the O-rings in my unit and got Vent back so that would lead me to believe I have a vacuum leak somewhere and the ETAC unit is also part of the problem. Just been waiting to find one on ebay cheap and buy it.

My EATC head unit was replaced last week under my extended warranty.

To enter the self-test, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds . The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds . Record all DTCs displayed.

Mike.

But far more likely it's still an o-ring problem. System going to defrost at WOT is only the
first stage of the problem. As the leaks worsen, it will eventually reach a point where
the defrost is all you get.

Hey Jeff,

What size O-Rings did you use??

'jack, I have plenty of the o-rings if you need some, otherwise the supplier and part number are in Jeff's thread referenced above...

Jeff, thanks for that update...right now, Phoebe is in the "defrost going up hills but comes back to dash vents when cruising" stage...I'll have to get on the repair soon.
