The Marauder is in need for tires. I have considered the BF Goodrich OEM but would like to try something else. I have thought of the Goodyear F1GS-D3 but I like the overview of the Goodyear Eagle Response Edge. They would size out 255/55/vr18 rears and 235/50/18 fronts. Has anyone tryed these and what results have you found ?

I am using 255-45/r18 on front and 255-55/r18 on rear.
They look good and drive extremely well.

perilli scorpion series 255/55/18 rear 235/50/18 front have bout 4,000 on them. always ran them (grand touring series)on all my cougars, with good results.12796 rear

12797 front

rear have 2 rows of Z
traction excellent, very quick lane change @50 mph, on the money. even though they are different thread designs car tracts very nice.
i guess time will tell . according to tire chart there is a 1.5 percent diff to the low :twocents:

Going wider makes the height taller.

235 50 18 means 235mm x .5 (x2 top and bottom) +18 = 27.25ish inches

245 50 18 means 245mm x .5 (x2 top and bottom) +18 = 27.65ish inches

Not much difference but the 245's are larger than the 235's.

Likewise

245 55 18's are 245mm x .55 (x2) +18 = 28.61 or so inches

255 55 18's are 255mm x .55 (x2) +18 = 29.00 or so inches

Such being the case your ratio should be preserved all the way around.

Even better than the 235's front, as long as they don't rub on anything.

Yes, I have been using 255/45/18 in the front and have no problems with tire rub.

After reviewing many posts and great input from fellow members I purchased OEM rear Goodrich TA KDWS 245/55/18 tires. This was against my concluded objective. I was giong to go with Goodyear Eagle Response 255/55/18 rear and 245/45/18 front. It all started out when I had what I thought was a simple question wanting to know the difference between V and Z rateing thinking of under steer due to v&z ratings. Then after mutiple questions of why I wanted to know that I explained I was unhappy with the OEM tire and wanted to try some thing different due to wear issues ect. They them proceeded how I would have to sign a waive to release them of any responsability. How it will cause safty issues tire rub wear problems ect. I know none of these problems would happpen because of what other members have shared with me. My only unanswered concern was effecting the traction controll. The OEM tire difference circumference is 4.6% and the disired set up would have been 6.93%. Even if I had gone to a 255/45/18 in the front the ratio would have been 8.13% most likely not effecting the tracktion controll. Either way my tire issue is done for another 30000 miles.

Honestly, Burt, you made the right call... I had the ResponseEdge in a 255-55-18 out back, and the stock BFGs up front. It felt good at first, but that quickly waned. After about 7-9,000 miles, the tires showed very little wear, but felt sloppy at speeds greater than 55mph. Felt almost like the back end was swaying ever so slightly, and it was not very reassuring.

I pulled them off, and replaced all 4 tires with a set of Flaken S/T Z01 in a 235-50-18 up from and 255-55-18 out back. The tires look, handle and hook very well. Best of all, wet weather results are waaay better the the BFGs. Glad I made the switch!
