Forgive me if I spelled this wrong. I broke the tensionor and picked up a replacement from Autozone, but it seems to have some type of steal protection over the pully and now I cannot move it past the Procharger. I need to buy a used one and being that I need to go to the junkyard anyway for my Blazer I wanted to know if I could get a tensinor off a Crown Vic or does it have to be the DOHC 4.6 Mach 1 engine?
Or can I take the new part back and go to NAPA and get a new part without the protective part?
Are you sure you picked up the right tensioner from the store?

That's the revised part. You need an early version.

Just cut the tab off as it states in the manual....also, you need to notch it so it will travel past the OEM "stop" to facilitate belt installation!!
If you don't have a manual PM me your email address and I'll scan the photo and send it to ya!!

I love it.
Dominick calls me for advise.
I confirm the tensioner is bad.
...No call when he runs into this problem.
Cut the tab off, problem solved.

I had to use the new part, but paid $10 to have the "lip" cut off. The taxi cab part didn't hold the belt tight enough. Soon as it was fixed it was back to normal.
I still don't know how I broke metal with rubber.

Then it was the guy who was testing the tranny, I knew not to drive it like that. He's caused a lot of damage. :flamer:
