I was thinking about places to get together, and wondered if anyone had thought of meeting at F1 boston?

http://www.f1boston.com/

It's in Braintree, about an hour from me.

Any interest?

I don't know how many people have been, but it's an absolute blast. I (or someone) would need to look into pricing to rent a track for an hour or so, and then we could go from there.

No problem for me, only 20 min ride.

Alright everyone i got some pricing.

If we can get 30-40 people (remember ANYONE over 18 can race.), doing a buffet style lunch, little hor-douvers (spelling), renting out the lounge for up to 4 hours, and a full hour of racing, it's about $60 per person.

Considering its almost $80 for just one person to walk in and race, without food, or a lounge, i think this is a fair price.

Without doing a lunch, we're looking at about $45 per person.

Any interest?

Do you wnat to coordinate this with my cookout on 7/19?
I'm 15min fro Braintree, we could have the cookout at my place, hit F1 for a few hours and then cruse over to Rileys car show.
Sweet deal !!

Mike, we could go after your cookout, but i'm trying to get this as a new england regional meet. I got more pricing info, i just need some support.

Well It should work out perfectly if we get a RSVP going. I don't want to buy food for 30 pluss people and you don't want to commit to F1 and then only 10 people show up.

If we make it a meet / cook out at my place, only 15 minutes from F1, then if people still want to hang out after we could go to Rileys about 25 min ride.
Only thing we need to know is what time we need to be at F1, so we can start the cook out early enough.

I guess to get this going we need to know if F1 can take us on the 19th?

Well the thing is, the way it's planned now, this is what the schedule for the day would look like:

1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Exclusive Use of Track 2 Lounge
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Buffet Lunch and Informal Meeting in Track 2 Lounge
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Safety Briefing/Waiver Signing
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm Exclusive Use of Track 2

now if we strictly wanted to race, it would greatly offset the cost.

For JUST racing, renting the track for an hour (plenty of racing fun!), and the one hour briefing, it's about $43.00 per person, if we can get 40 to commit (remember ANYONE over 18 can race, bring some friends).

The pricing breakdown, if we decide to go all out, and do a lunch and everything:

Pricing estimate based on 40 people:
Buffet Lunch ($25.00 per person) $1,000.00
20% Administrative Fee (on all food and beverages) $ 200.00
Track 2 Lounge $ 250.00
Trophies/Awards TBD
Subtotal $1,450.00
5% MA Sales Tax $ 72.50
1 Hour Rental of Track 2 $1,600.00
Total $3,122.50

That breaks down to $78.06 per person.

I can call/email the lady that is helping to coordinate this, and find out more about strictly racing if there is more interest in that.

It sounds like a good deal but, I am really not sure if we can count on 40 people comitting to it and then what? lets say only 20 do it and we go with the 1 hour track rental only? We are looking at what..about 100 each?

I would call and see if there is a opening for a 1 hour track rental only for the 19th. we can post a new thread and once we get atleast 20 pluss people comitted, then we can book it.
This way we can still do the cook out thing, hit F1 and take it from there.
If more people join up as it gets closer to the day, then great.. we still have the track and price each will be cheaper.
Mike
P.S. You do realise we could rent the track at New England Dragway for the entire day for less.

+1 with Mike's idea on NED...My aunt bought me and my cousins tickets to F1, we haven't used them yet, but I can't use them without my cousin's being there, it's a family thing.

renting NED for the day would be freakn awsome but, it's like 100 per person and we would need like 25 cars.
