I wonder if moving the engine back 1/2" or so would be beneficial for weight transfer? Shouldn't be too difficult to notch the crossmember bolt holes for the motor mounts and the tranny bolt holes since it's all empty now. Might help to counterbalance the additional weight of the cast iron block and S/C stuff.

It isn't even worth the effort. Your passenger side valve cover is already crowding the A/C stuff anyway.

If you could clear the firewall, an extra inch would net some gain not only in transfer during launch but in overall balance.
I also don't think there is enough room. But right now you have a better view of the situation than anybody else!

It's a standard practice for SCCA ricers....

You can't get the cam covers off without a major hassle and/or loosening the motor mounts anyway...
so if the cam covers don't actually hit anything when the engine is moved back, what the heck, I'd give it a try.

BTW: Even our all aluminum DOHC engines are HEAVY V8s.

If I had it to do all over again...
I'd have pulled my stock modular DOHC as soon as I started modding my Marauder and dropped in a simple, lighter and much more powerful 392/408W stroker with a set of AFR heads and a hot roller cam.
500 HP easy.....and torque? UHmmmmm YES!!
