I was wondering what the weight for the 4R70W trans was compared to a 350 TG? I have removed some 350 TG by unbolting it and dropping the weight of the trans on my chest. Then I worked it to the ground and then out. I intern did the same the thing with a 400 TG and it just about crushed me, weighing about 100lbs more. So before I get under a MM and do some wrenching, I'd like to know what I'm in for?

That's good to know, and if anything happens, people will say "He sure did try". ;)

I can't imagine handling a 4R70 on my back. It has to weigh way more than a THM350. Use a jack!

The wieght, you could probably handle...

It's the fact that it is NOT balanced nor smooth, that will give you some deep gouges in your belly or you will break something as you roll it off you...

Good luck...

Tried that, it was the metal protrusions and out of balance that got me...

Never again...

Trans jack adapters are for smart and safe people who want to complete the job at hand and go home to please the wife/gf/significant other....

I don't mean to insult anyone here but, doesn't anyone here break a sweat when working on their Marauders anymore? I take it this is a procedure that should be left to the strong people. Sorry if I strained anyone's imagination. I work with the tools at hand. I guess if I explained how to be a human bumper some of you would freak. :D

I have become an expert on removing the 4R70W/4R75W between the 3 cars i have had with them in them. You have to find creative ways to remove them. This is just one of ther more creative ways.

Ed, email Darrin at BC Automotive or maybe Dennis. They ship them and should know the weight.

I know scrawny Fred pics them up to the bench at DR's shop, but that's with no fluid and no TC.

I just didn't want to get to the last bolt and find out it's 450lbs, 400lbs is my limit.

Thanks, but the tranny isn't my major problem! I really tend not to remove the tranny when pulling the engine, it was just suggested that I do.

I googled some yesterday about this question and saw shipping weight listed in a couple places as 150 lbs. That sounds awfully low to me. I would trust what Darrin or Dennis can tell you much more than what google told me.

That sounds about right for it's mass, minus the TC and fluids, to the tone of ~250lbs
