My day/night mirror doesen't seem to work, and the whole mirror is loose. I haven't had much time to look at it. Now, this thing, being electronic, must have a wire that's supposed to go to it? I can't see one. The windshield was also replaced by the previous owner. I wonder if someone didn't plug a wire in perhaps?
Also, I can feel contacts at the back of the mirror? What might these be for? Sorry to impose, but would anyone mind taking a photo of their mirror, front and back? I'm getting the feeling that there are some parts that wern't put back when the w/s was replaced.
Also, if anyone has any thoughts about what I should look for, or if I'm totaly mistaken about all my assumptions, please clue me in!

The wire is clearly shown in both pics below. It runs down from the headliner inside a "box" protector strip.

Sounds like the connector is not plugged in if you can feel the contacts. You can see the location of it in the photos. Without power the dimming function will not work.

Well, I guess a picture is worth 1000 words. I'm missing, well, EVERYTHING except the rear view mirror. I have no wire, and no long plastic wire cover. Now, in addition to a new windshield, my car has a new roof too (severe hail damage). I'm thinking the wire wasn't put back on the car by the body shop when they dropped the headliner. This doesn't make me happy. I suppose the mate to the wire from the mirror is under the headliner somewhere..?

I would see if the plug is buried inside the headliner or have the body shop that replaced the roof look for it.

Your wire is more than likely in the overhead console unless that isn't there either??
Take it down and see....if it is there all you will need is the plastic conduit from the headliner to the mirror base!!
Good Luck!!

Ok, well that's good news that the mating connector is in the OH console. I was worried I'd need to drop the headliner. I guess I'll have to see how much plastic conduit is and get it ordered. That's all one peice right, or do I order the wire and the conduit seperately? Now, out of curiosity, would that be the same conduit / wiring that one would find in a Crown Victoria LX, Grand Marquis, or Lincoln Town Car? Maybe I could find one used if that's the case.

Should be the same for all the cars you mention.....especially the CV and GM??
Might find one in a junk yard if you can't buy it separately from your dealer!!
