I don't think my alarm system is working.
Yesterday, I locked the car with the Fob and had the driver window down. I reached in and opened the door, and No alarm sounded. (I waited 30 seconds)
Doesn't that simulate someone breaking a widow, reaching in and opening the door? I thought the alarm would go off.
What's up with that?
Maybe it's time for aftermarket.
I did turn off the seatbelt minder chime. Could that effect it?

Get a after market alarm. The brain 4 the factory alarm might not be picking up that the window is down. The problem i had was, when i unlocked my doors with the remote, the doors would unlock but the alarm was still on, I pissed my neighbors off. Get a after market alarm.:burnout:

If you mean your factory alarm is not working I have a question, are you sure you have an alarm? Keyless entry does not mean you have an alarm. On the older Ford vehicles with factory alarm there would be a red "theft' light on the dash which would go on steady when lockng doors, and then go to flashing after a short while when alarm is activated. I'm not sure on how the Marauder shows a factory alarm.
If you do have an alarm, it might need 60 seconds to activate. Try it the same way but wait longer before opening door thru open window.

Some folks think because the red light on the dash is flashing there is an alarm. All that light does is notify you the passive anti theft system is working. As the thieves who broke into my left side and then my right side nieghbors may hae thought i have an alarm I do not advertise it is not an alarm.

I thought we had an audible alarm on our Marauders, along with the ignition cut off?????
I have to look this up.

Our cars only have Keyless entry and no alarm functions. Their is no passive anti-theft modules besides the PATS system. A real alarm has to have a shock sensor.
I've left my windows down for hours with the car locked and reached inside and unlocked it or pulled the handle and the car just opens.
The new Mustangs allow you to add on the optional "Active Anti-Theft Alarm".
From a 08 Mustang Manual
The active anti-theft system is designed to warn you on the event of an unauthorized entry to your vehicle and is also designed to prevent the unwanted towing of the vehicle.
When the vehicle is locked and armed, the active anti-theft system monitors the following:
Doors
Hood
Trunk
Movement inside the vehicle
Change in vehicle inclination
Note: the active anti-theft system includes a motion detection system which monitors the passenger cabin and a vehicle incline sensor which detects changes in the vehicle attitude.

You would think they had them already, aren't these cars in the top ten most stolen vehicles since 2005?

Well I am confused The PATS (passive anti theft system) System you mention is the code in the key thing, which is what the red light is telling you is armed.
ANY Alarm is an option or after market.

They might not have realized that in 02 and 03 when they were building them.

The only Alarm I have on my Marauder is the one on the keyfob so I can find it should i forget where I parked it. Or as happens while putting my shoes on, the key fob in my pocket gets the button pressed and the alarm goes off.
I do not think the Marauder has an active alarm, not factory anyway.
This does not stop me from chirping the horn when I walk into a store, everyone else see's the red light and just assumes I have an alarm.

Everyone except those that count. Professional car thieves are wise to PATS. One thing you could do to fool them (maybe) would be to add a flashing blue LED somewhere on the dash. Might fool them into thinking you have an armed after market alarm.

I see there is some confusion as to the "alarms" on our vehicles. The Passive Anti Theft System (PATS), has the key word "passive". This is a system that simulates that an "active" alarm system is armed with a little red flashy light and a chirp off the horn. An active alarm will have sensors for glass breakage and impacts to the body, and shut off switches if being towed. Don't be fooled by the Panic button. It's only purpose is gain the attention of bystanders or ward off would be predators(got a gun for that).

I have a Ravelco. It disables all electronics. A multi pronged plug must be pluged in before the car will start even with the key. The car can be towed however. Lo Jack is good but very expensive. You can save about $400. if purchased through a dealer. The Honda dealer in Ft Myers Fl sells it for about 600- $700. The will install in any car they say.

I thought about the ravelco...but I think I will forget to take the thing out when I get out the car! Plus I didnt want them messing with wires and putting a hole in the dash...
